What's happening in Rome is not a game. Those thousands of people marching in the streets protesting against current government of Premier Silvio Berlusconi are not having a great time doing that – they are out because there is no other choice left. Crowds that blocked the Airport in Naples and a stock market in Milan were hoping that this would be the time Berlusconi would fall. The image of corrupted billionnaire and a „weak leader throwing parties all the time“ as presented in WikiLeaks along with the deep crisis that broke out in June would be enough for his failure. But Berlusconi survived both votes. He remained Premier as he got 314-311 votes in lo! wer house. He would have failed if Catia Polidori and two other rebels from opposition didn't change their votes at the very last minute. Three votes ensured Berlusconi to keep on, but it became visible that he didn't have that easy majority in the house and the powers to govern. The atmosphere inside the parliament was tight and after three opposition rebels changed their votes, disturbances took over the room. Lawmakers had to be seduced by ushers and the program could be carried on. Polidori however didn't realize masses outside the building waiting for her house to possibly change the march of the country. She failed, such as Gianfranco Fini, the opposition leader who hoped Berlusconi wouldn't make it that day. Fini got a support, but didn't meet the goal – Berlusconi held the post, but this was not a famous victory, rather a Pyrrhic victory, The results only accelerated violence outside the parliament. Protester set fires in the cars, broke shopping windows and m! et in riots with the police. There were around 90 injured peop! le in th ese clashes and more than 40 arrested. The real thing has just begun.

When you think of one of the most peaceful cities in the world, than I am sure that in one of those places you would as well put the Swedish capital Stockholm. But, it wasn’t like that these few days when a Middle East-born man wanted to include some “excitement” in the peaceful life and blew himself in an explosion that he had provoked. He had explosives on the belt and his first idea was to hurt people either on a train station or in a department store. It is a before Christmas time and everybody is so in a hurry to get presents for the closest people. But, this 29-year old pyromaniac had done something wrong before succeeding to fulfill its mission. Som! ething went wrong and he didn’t get to the goal. The explosive device had gone off prematurely. But, still, he killed two people. Well, maybe if we take the other side of the story and what would it happen if he had done everything right? I don’t even want to think of that. Or as the Chief prosecutor of the country Tomas Lindstrand says “if it had all exploded at the same time it could have caused very serious damage”. The man’s identity is known, though it is still an enigma which country exactly he comes from, but it is clear that he had become a citizen of Sweden since 1998. He even was a graduated in sports therapy in the University of Bedfordshire, England. The motives are still not so clean, but there could be one indication. The news agency TT right after the blasts had received a letter as a critics for the Swedish troops in Afghanistan.

When one mentions miners believe it or not, but the first thought coming in my mind is some accident. Is it that there is not a lot that’s done for the safety of these brave people to be improve, or they are simply coursed to have such a bad luck. After the last accident in Chile when 33 miners when trapped for few months in a crashed mine everyone would say that it was the time for some good stuff to be done and heard. But, few days ago, the China news woke us up with new black information about 26 miners killed in a coal mine in central Henan province. Everyone would say that we are talking about a country that has a pretty long history with such black days. In the! whole mess it is good that almost half of the miners, some 20, where saved from the cruel hands of the death. China is a developing country that makes nervous all big economical powers in the last few years. But, it seems that besides good business and cheap working power, it doesn’t have a lot to offer to its citizens. In the history of all the mines countries, China takes the first place having the deadliest mines of all. Mines don’t offer safety standards. Who can believe the about 2600 people have died only last year? What happened this time? An explosion happened and then the suspicion rises easily. Though officials had announced that there were total 33 miners, it turned out that the complete number was 46! Most of the accidents that usually happen are due to the build-up of coal gas or methane ignited by sparks or open flames. Besides the rigorous regulations about coal mining, many producers just don’t give a damn about that.

French epidemiologist Renaud Piarroux has shaken the Organization of the United Nations few days ago claiming that the U.N. soldiers base that is situated outside the town of Mirebalais is the direct culprit of the death of 2.000 Haiti people, due to the cholera. You need to be a very brave man to say something like that and though it is still not yet proven that the Nepalese soldiers that came actually to help the after earthquake devastated country, are the ones that made even bigger disaster to the hosts. Scientist Piarroux has come to the conclusion that the cholera originated in a tributary of Artibonite river, which is next to the U.N. base. The outbreak of the diseas! e that we learnt in schools like it is from some other time, like 18th and 19th century, it seems like it has hidden somewhere around. Piarroux was sent by the French government to help the Haitian health officials that had no idea where does the cholera come from. The whole thing is pretty suspicious. I mean, the earthquake that ruined the country half a year ago didn’t induce cholera and now when it seems like life is finally coming back to the impoverished country, new disaster with that menace has knocked on the door. It is weird that the area where the disease came is far from the camps. The Piarroux report is still not confirmed by U.N., some media got it anonymously and with confidence. According to U.N, “there is still no conclusive evidence that its base was the source of the outbreak,” but that they are waiting for the evidences. It is weird as well that none of the soldiers were infected. I suppose time will prove who was in charge.

Extrémne výkyvy počasia a klimatické katastrofy akoby v tomto roku nabrali obrátky - bezprecendentné množstvo erupcií, tsunami, zemetrasení, povodní a návalov tepla a sucha obchádzajú planétu a udierajú na oblasti, kde sa doteraz nevyskytovali. Haiti, Čína, Čile, stredná Európa, USA, Indonézia, Bermudy, Kanada, Moskva tie tvoria len málo miest, kde počasie spôsobilo vážne škody. Posledné správy prichádzajú z Kolumbie, kde počas víkendu došlo k masívnym zosuvom pôdy. Vytrvalé dažde, ktor! é sa pripisujú silnejúcemu fenoménu El Nino spôsobili to, že v severozápadnom regióne sa zosunuli celé svahy vodou nasiaknutej pôdy. El Nino je charakteristický zmenou zrážkového režimu na relatívne veľkých územiach – miesta, ktoré mali zrážky ostávajú suché a zrážkové oblaky sa naopak presúvajú na miesta, kde nikdy neboli. El Nino alebo syndróm rozkvitnutej púšte. El Nino alebo záplavy a početné ľudské obete. Dôsledky sú pre Kolumbiu vážne – len za tento rok sa počet obetí vyšplhal na 170. Počasie negatívne ovplyvnilo viac ako 1,5 milióna obyvateľov, pričom podľa prezidenta Juana Manuela Santosa by číslo do konca roka mohlo presiahnúť 2 milióny. Vytrvalé dažde spustili lav! 7;nu bahna a pôdy, pričom v priamom smere zasiahli v! iac ako 50 domov v oblasti Bello, v antiochijskej provincii. Oficiálne štatistiky hovoria 50 až 60 zavalených ľudoch, avšak doteraz sa podarilo vyprostiť len jedno telo. Although Beijing sought for peace between two Koreas after military incident on Yeonpyeong Island last week, the situation seems to be quite opposite. Conflict is moving along via harrasment, continuing military drills, background diplomatic ties and the presence of the U.S. naval forces in South Korea. Instead of pushing back and seeking solutions it is now South Korea that is going further with its military exercises that provoke Pyongyang for another intervention. Although it's all been covered under a revenge for the attack from last week when the target was a military base but also homes of civilians as well virtually for the first time since the Korean war in 1950s. S! outh Korea seems to be on the move and ride, backed up by Washinghton military support. The situation has been sharpened by secret emails between Seoul and Washinghton that went online via Wikileaks last week. According to these documents South Korea and the U.S. have been talking about „unified Korea“ under the reign of Seoul for a longer time. One can be sure that all these movements along with diplomatic talks about Northern Korea without Northern Korea are fiasko as well. South Korea carried on its military drills not even regarding current diplomatic meeting of South Korea, Japan and U.S. in Washinghton and the statement of its Northern neighbor that these kind of movements would aggravate already high tensions. This time drills took place far from disputed border, but it seems they were not the last. Some observers have been talking about the war – according to these statements North Korea couldn't afford a full scale war even with nuclear weapons, ! since South Korean went to the conflict hand in hand with the ! U.S. And for the U.S. this is another „casual“ war. In fact U.S. is the most aggresive country in the world – in more-less 200 years of its history they participated or created more than 10 major war conflicts and that is the record that no country in the world can break.

It's been a fact that 2010 is full of the most extreme climate catastrophes including volcano erruptions, floods, tsunami, drought and earthquakes taking all over the world. Another stormy catastrophe hit Colombia after heavy rains set an avalanche of mud and ground on Sunday. Landslides hit northwest part of the country and came as a result of intensifying weather phenomenon of El Nino. El Nino is typical by redistribution of rain clouds. The places that once used to have rains are getting dry and the rainclouds are moving on places with dry and warm climate, sometimes even on deserts. Consequences are grave, rains and floods have already killed arond 170 people this year.! The number of affected summed about 1.5 million, but rains can leave more than 2 million homeless according to Colombia's President Juan Manuel Santos. Long term and intensive rains combined with already wet ground resulted in massive mud streams flowind down targeting several villages. More than 50 homes were in the direct move in Bello municipality in Antioquia province. For now it is believed that between 50 and 60 people trapped, at least according to disaster official John Freddy Rendon from the near city of Medelin. So far the number of affected people move around 150 people, but the quotes will rise. According to the Colombian Red Cross the number of missing people is unknown, but one body has been recovered. Rains have created an unprecedented tragedy in Colombian history and except of people it hammered cofee and coals production areas.

An earthquake that hit Haiti in January wasn't the worst that could happen. In fact it was just an wide-open gate to numerous set backs and a political and social destabilization of the country. Now, more than one million of people who lost their homes due the earthquake went out of focus of major world media and survived a hurricane season. All in silence, all with the bitterness of a nearing death taking face of cholera and increasing criminality. Cholera has now taken over the country that is desperately lacking doctors, medical staff volunteers and supplies. So far the death toll counted about 1,900 people but more are about to be counted. According to Haitian Health Mi! nistry there was more than 80,000 cholera cases since late October but the Pan-American Health Organization projected about 650,000 people in next half a year. But it may not be the final number – for U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon the quotes may double because the countryside is lacking any kind of statistic data. And it is the countryside that is affected the most – there is hardly a public transport and people have to walk several hours to reach the closest hospital or a medical station. But this is not the salvation, since clinics are overloaded with people – sometimes offering only two or three doctors on about a thousand of patients. Many people are so exhausted that they are not risking the long walk and they die. Even if cholera doesn't have a high mortality rate moving somewhere 1.5 percent, the situation can worsen if an urgent medical aid is not provided. So virtually one can say that the border between life and death are two infusions or gl! asses of nutrition liquids. So small if you imagine two small ! cups of liquids and then this enormous amount of human shelters seeking for it. So small, so distant and if one doesn't reach it there is no future except of painful, silent death.

They say everything that is forced can be dangerous. For two days, innocent people are hardly breathing in the Iran's capital Tehran because the pollution levels have gone too far. This wouldn't be too serious if we avoid the fact that it happens for the second time in one month. The government brought a decision to declare two-day public holiday for schools, offices, industrial capacities. As numbers say, about 130 million dollars costs each holiday for the city. Tehran is one of the most polluted cities in the world, which costs huge health problems for its citizens. One of the basic factors for the pollution is the quickly growing city which today has more than 12 millio! n people. Its been some time already and the World Health Organization alarms the government that some effort must be taken for the reducing of the problem. There are a lot of vehicles in the metropolis. The numbers are menacing- about 1.4 million vehicles in the city releases about 5 million tones of carbon dioxide in the air. Tehran joins the top three group consisted of Los Angeles and Mexico City, which also struggle with the bad air. Little wind can enter the city, due to the three sited mountain covering. Also, the high temperatures make easier the transformation of pollutants into ozone. One of the government's mission how to handle the bitter problem is to introduce the natural gas a basic for the heating system. Mount Merapi, the most vulnerable Indonesian volcano has awaken once again. After storming October when seismologists measured a series of increasing intensity of shakes and volcano gas concentration it errupted in November and caused significant damages on crops of nearby area. More than 70,000 people were evacuated from their homes and fields that were once fertile remained with a thick, grey layer of dust. According to scientists the dynamics of this volcano was similar to a marathon runner – slow, but long term activities. They can be various from erruption of all kinds – lava, gas, dust and smoke erruption to earthquakes and eventuelly resulting tsunami. Ts! unami are generally created by earthquakes or volcano activities. And it's been more than a month since the first lava erruption and Mount Merapi is alive again. This time, heavy rains mixed with ash and stones covering the foothill and created fast-moving mudflows. The mass streamed down the slopes at speeds of up to 60 mph (100 kph) and inundated homes at the banks of the Code River. Mud created about a knee-high black sludge and again several hundreds of residents had to escape from their homes. The affected area spread up to 20 miles (30 kilometers) in perimeter. Mount Merapi je indonézskym najzradnejším vulkánom. Posledné dni svet opäť obleteli správy o tom, že vulkán je v bdelom stave. Indonézski seizmológovia už v októbri zaznamenali sériu zintenzívňujúcich sa otrasov, zvyšujúcu sa koncentráciu vulkanických plynov. Bolo už len otázkou času, kedy sa sopka prebudí. Bolo to na začiatku novembra, kedy hora začala okrem mračna popola a prachu, chŕliť aj žeravú lávu. Kvôli erupcií bolo evakuovaných viac ako 70,000 obyvateľov priľahlej oblasti.! Polia, ktoré mali priniesť úrodu sopka pokryla vrstvou lepkavého, sivého popola. Podľa vedcov však dynamika hory pripomínala skôr maratónskeho bežca, než šprintéra – pre Mount Merapi sa predpokladali dlhodobé, hoci slabšie erupcie všetkého druhu – plyn, prach, popol, kameň a láva. Avšak aj tieto aktivity by mohli kedykoľvek spôsobiť zemetrasenie, prípadne tsunami, ktoré zvykne sprevádzať zemetrasenia, najmä v ostrovných oblastiach. Po mesiaci je sopka opäť činná – tentokrát však nepriamo. Katastrofu tentokrát spôsobili neustávajúce dažde, ktoré sa na úpätí hory zmiešali so sopečným popolom a vytvorili prúdy rýchlo tečúceho bahna. Prúdy, ktoré sa z hory valili rýchlosťou až d! o šesťdesiat kilometrov za hodinu zaplavili domy na ! brehu bl ízko tečúcej rieky – Code. Výška bahna v domoch dosiahla približne 40-50 cm – oblasť o približnej rozlohe 20 míľ (30 km) v priemere muselo opätovne opustiť okolo 400 obyvateľov. Mount Merapi na začiatku novembera spôsobila kolaps na leteckých linkách v tejto oblasti – dve ázijské letecké spoločnosti – nízkonákladová AirAsia a singapúrska SilkAir preventívne zrušili niekoľko medzinárodných letov do blízkych miest Yogykarta a Solo. Kvôli vulkánu musel návštevu Indonézie preložiť aj americký prezident Barack Obama.

Irish people are nervous and anxious with their government concerning its latest decision to make-up the country's debt situation with the money their own money. Though no one was asked about this decision, the taxpayers are angry (and to be honest, they have every right to be), because the Irish government injected 17.5 billion euros of its cash and the pension reserves. With this bailout the politicians that lead the country want to cover up the banks situation. As a direct aftermath of this help, the bank stocks have risen today. Irish banks owe some 67.5 billion euros as far as a direct consequence by the economical recession that attacked the world two days ago. Although military events and actions between North and South Korea have increased tensions and evoked fears of upcoming war, it seems it is nothing surprising for markets. If we speak economy, markets and stocks haven't drowned that amount it was expected. According to Moody's Investor Service one hour lasting artillery fire causing 4 deads didn't mean something grave, because „event risks“ were already factored into South Korean credit ratings. Literally markets didn't believe that the war was coming, despite the fact U.S. war ships were allying with South Korea. But talks concerning Korea affair were about to come and these meetings should concern both Koreas! , China, Russia, U.S. and Japan. North Korea however abandoned talks two years ago and it may not be willing participate now. But kind of global pressure is falling on Beijing that fails to influence its North-East neighbor. According to international observers China fears that close ties with North Korea may be influenced in wrong way. So far, North Korea showed its independent and fearless side, backed by the power of nuclear weapons that possesses. But there is also another ticking bomb that is about to explode. Server Wikileaks informed the most powerful world daily newspapers (British Guardian, French Le Monde or Spanish El Pais) that it possessed materials containing a cache of U.S. diplomatic cables. North Korea versus South Korea. That is a neverending story. Fear spreads that the Tuesday artillery attack on South Korean Island not far from a disputed frontier signals the escalation of the conflicts between the two countries. Two South Korean marines died in the attack and about dozen were wounded. Reportedly, also civilian injuries occured and houses were set on fire as scores of shell fell on Yeonpyeong Island. Immediately after the incident a state of emergency was proclaimed in South Korea. North Korea was quick to accuse South Korea of firing first. ''The South Korean enemy, despite our repeated warnings, committed reckless military provocations of firing artille! ry shells into our maritime territory near Yeonpyeong island,'' the military supreme command said. Lately, North Korea has been a subject of international attention mainly due to its newly built uranium enrichment plant and therefore worries concerning the country´s efforts to enlarge and enhance its nuclear arsenal. The artillery attack resulted in South Korea´s defense minister Kim Tae-young issuing his resignation. The minister has already offered his resignation once, back in May after the sinking of South Korea´s warship, the tragedy blamed on North Korea. This time President Lee Myung-bak accepted the resignation and the replacement is to be announced on Friday. In a response to the attack Seoul said it would increase the number of ground troops on the Yeonpyeong island and four other islands in that area. We “should not let our guard down,” said President´s spokesman Hong Sang-pyo said. "I think a similar North Korean provocation could! come at any time," he quoted President Lee. US President Barr! ack Obam a also expressed his support to South Korea and agreed with Lee Myung-bak on more joint military exercises. "South Korea is our ally. It has been since the Korean War," Obama said. "And we strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea as part of that alliance."

Clouds of fire and smoke reached highs over Yeonpyeong island on Tuesday. The island with more than 1,700 civilians and South Korean military base became a target of artillery fire lasting for about an hour. Unfortunate brother nations of Korean Island met in perhaps the „gravest“ conflict since the Korean war in 1950's. The fire came from both sides after South Korea refused to stop its military exercises near the disputed border. The answer from communist Party ridden North Korea was sharp warning Seoul from more military strikes if the border would be crossed by „even 0.0001 millimeter“. Though tensions between North and South are regular and som! ewhat never exceeding a certain level of involuntary „tolerance“, this strike was different – the fire came from both sides and shots targeted also civilian objects. Residents of Yeonpyeong escaped into 20 temporary shelters. Incident created an avalanche of international consequences, though they may not be visible for now, but the major attention now focus on two powers – U.S. and China. U.S. clearly took a side of Seoul with some media citing President Obama's outrage to North Korea actions. So far, international media suggested U.S. was planning further military actions along with South Korea againt Pyongyang. China, being in close military or ideological relationships with both countries hasn't chosen a side, aiming for „peace“. South Korea now turns also on U.N. Sanctions against North Korea. Pyongyang was blamed for sinking down South Korean boat in the spring, killing all 42 staff on the board. Another threat is its nuclear progr! am. Pyongyang is not trying to cover that and send it out of d! iscussio ns and while Seoul pushes hard U.N. to imply third round of sanctions on North Korea, Pyongyang can be safe for now, because even if U.N. agree on that, China has a right of veto to stop the process.

It's hard to find words for explaining the situation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. No, it's even hard to find appropriate words to describe the massacer in the city. The most bizzare aspect of it is that it may be noone's fault. However, looking at several thousands of people running or walking, squeezed in such small area of the bridge over Tonle Bassac river envokes dangerous feelings. The situation twisted from joyful celebration of the last day of rain season into a bloodshed. Look at the people that fall into panic and all of a sudden they decide to leave the bridge. The human mass is flowing every direction and tears down everything standing in the way – including p! eople. At least 378 people died from crushing, drowning or serious wounds caused by electric lines of bridge lights. Until now, the reason of suddenly hystery is not known – what made people to leave the bridge from where they had to see the concert and popular boat race? Who is now to blame? There were a lot of children between victims of the crowd – they just tripped, tumbled and couldn't stand, the mass just ran over them. All that left was a pile of bodies – dead or half alive. According to witness the police and medical support arrived into the place after a long time. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen suggested the accident was the biggest tragedy since the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror leaving about 1.7 million people dead in the late 1970s. A national day of mourning has been scheduled on Thursday.

Nad maličkým ostrovom Yeonpyeong sa v utorok k nebu vzniesli husté oblaky dymu a ohňa. Ostrov, ktorý obýva okolo 1700 civilistov a leží v blízkosti hranice medzi Severnou a Južnou Kóreou sa stal terčom takmer hodinovej vojenskej paľby. Podľa viacerých komentátorov ide o najvážnejší incident medzi znepriatelenými bratskými národmi od čias Kórejskej vojny a teda pätdesiatych rokov minulého storočia. Opätovaná paľba prišla potom, čo Južná Kórea odmietla zastaviť svoje vojenské cvičeni! a v blízkosti doteraz neujednotnenej hranice. Odpoveď krajiny riadenej komunistickou stranou bola jasná – pokiaľ južný sused prekročí hranicu čo i len o „0,0001 milimetra“, môže očakávať viac vojenských zásahov. Hoci napätie a incidenty medzi Severnou a Južnou Kóreou sú dlhodobé a doteraz nikdy nepresiahli istú hranicu „nutnej tolerancie“, utorkový incident bol odlišný – šlo o priamu paľbu, ktorá vyšla z oboch strán, pričom terčami sa stali aj civilné objekty. Obyvatelia ostrova sa pred paľbou ukryli v 20 úkrytoch. Incident sa prirodzene odrazil aj na medzinárodnej úrovni – hoci mnohé je dnes ešte neviditeľné. Pozornosť sa dnes zameriava predovšetkým na dve mocnosti – Spojené štáty americké! ; a Čínu. Hoci Spojené štáty si okam&! #382;ite vybrali stranu a podľa médií spoločne s Južnou Kóreou plánujú ďalšie vojenské kroky voči Pchjongjangu, Čína ostáva neutrálna. Dôvodom sú blízke obchodné a vojenské vzťahy a ideologická príbuznosť s oboma krajinami, nuž a pod týmto rúškom maskuje svoju nečinnosť a snahu o zmierenie. Južná Kórea sa v posledných rokoch spolieha na pomoc Spojených národov. V roku 2008 a 2009 uspela s požiadavkou, aby UN na Pchjongjang uvalili sankcie. Tretie kolo sankcií im však nemusí výjsť – pretože, posledným a najdôležitejším hráčom s právom veta je Čína. A tá je nateraz nehybná ako sfinga...

Like it or not, but even the very conservative Catholic Church led by the Pope Benedict XVI must release its belts and let it go sometimes. Even the higher moral ideas that the church is spreading must have some change due to the modern civilization way of living. Even a small child knows the Pope's attitude on the terms of using condoms. I don't want to be misunderstood or something, but, who is the church to tell you what do you want to choose? Me, I belong to the Orthodox church (not so blindly) and no matter what opinion some religious leaders have, it is up to my conscience what would I decide to do. Few days ago visiting Africa, the Pope confused a bit its followers b! y saying that in some cases the use of the condoms could be justifiable in some limited situations, in the meaning of fight against AIDS. No matter if we speak about pretty much very big attention to what the Pope said about condoms or maybe he is really changing his mind, we have the clear minds to think through what is the best for our health and lives. The ban of contraception has been the Pope's attitude in decades. And now, this confused churchgoers. Some think that it could be a dangerous thing if the ban isn't going to be total and the new opinion interpretation gets too free. I don't believe that there can be any adult person today that is going to have the dilemma whether to use condom, just because the pope said so. I just can't put that idea in my mind. And if the church wants to be of a help for its believers, it must listen to more of their's needs. And world is already in big troubles with the evil disease, so thinking of the justification of condom use is on! ly a non-sense.

North Korea unveils new uranium enrichment plant by Zuzana Zelenakova

The United States have considered North Korea a threat for years now given the country´s nuclear efforts. However, this time Washington has more reasons to be worried than ever. North Korea has just revealed new nuclear facility that could considerably speed up the country´s delivery of nuclear weapons. The uranium enrichment plant has been called a “provocative act of defiance” by one of US administration officials. "This validates a long-standing concern that we've had with respect to North Korea and its enrichment of uranium,“ he said. The facility has been visited by US scientist Siegfried Hecker, a former director of Los Alamos Nuclear Labo! ratory, who is more than familiar with North Korea´s nuclear program as he gets to witness its progress on regular bases. According to his report, released by New York Times, the new facility is highly sophisticated. Reportedly, he saw “hundreds and hundreds” of newly installed centrifuges operated from “an ultra-modern control room”. The plant is not producing plutonium needed for a bomb, however, it does produce low-enriched uranium for new reactor that could be trasformed. Moreover, the international community is worried that North Korea could sell its technology to terrorist oranizations. "From my perspective, it's North Korea continuing on a path which is destabilizing for the region. It confirms or validates the concern we've had for years about their enriching uranium, which they've denied routinely," said top US military officer Mike Mullen. "They are a country that routinely we are unable to believe that they would do what they say." Mu! llen also reminded of an tragic insident from march, when Nort! h Korea sank South Korean warship Cheonan killing 46 sailors. "All of this is consistent with belligerent behavior, the kind of instability-creation in a part of the world that is very dangerous," he said on CNN.

We can still feel the disaster that happened in Indonesia this October and early November. Mount Merapi volcano’s eruptions that happened several times during the period of 23rd of October to 5th of November left tragedy and sorrow behind their self. Families were moving to refugee camps, some of them even twice (after the unexpected heat clouds that traveled up to 10 miles). They left everything they had behind their self and simply moved. They left not only their houses; they left their memories behind, memories that were buried under the lava end the ashes of The Mountain of Fire. Some families even lost a member, yes people died and there is no price that can refi! ll that emptiness in a family. For days the search was enabled from the hot ash and inappropriate conditions, but now we know that more than 200 people died. Words can’t explain those ugly and scary pictures, words can’t explain the tears from children eyes their fear. Nothing can explain that adrenalin filed days. Officials say volcanic activity has slowed, but intense tremors are still being detected and a 20 kilometer exclusion zone remains in place. Only thing that is left since we have no control on nature is hope and pray that this will end and it won’t happen again. It leave us with a thought of the taxes that the nature takes from us, the same nature that we treat with no respect and no understanding of our next generations. So think about it!!!

28- storey building in Chinese business capital whose population amounts to almost 20 million people caught fire on November 15. High-rise that was undergoing reconstruction is situated in one of the most densely populated districts in the town. Monday, it became a place of tragedy as 53 people died in fire that started on the scaffolding´s 10th storey and quickly spread to cover the whole building. "The building was surrounded by scaffolding covered in a lot of flammable sheeting and plywood boards that caused the fire to spread to a large area in a very short time. The wind was strong and intensified the situation," said Zhu Zhixiang, a senior Shanghai fire official! . It took as much as 80 fire engines to extinguish fire of such an extent. As far as the cause of the fire is concerned that has not been confirmed yet, even though local residents claim that safety measurements on the site were often ignored and neglected by workers whose behaviour could eventually lead to such disastrous consequences. Many were seen to have been tossing used cigarettes in the building´s hallways. Officials detained four welders who were reportedly using their equipment improperly and are suspected of having accidentally started the fire. Apart from 53 dead, about 70 people were injured and transported to the hospital. 17 of them are in critical condition. "It is hard to believe the government now. The drills on TV are successful, but when a fire truly happens, it's just useless. We feel helpless," said a woman whose mother lived on the ninth floor and died in fire. "There must be something illegal in the construction materials, though we don't know.! I am waiting for the government's explanation," she said. The! buildin g´s renovation was aimed at improving its energy efficiency.

Life in great metropolis is complicated. Along with the most basic things, everything is complicated – traffic, planning, social relationships, safety and control. It can be overcome and solved if you are living in relatively small city with a good community, but a life in metropolis means to be living in the jungle. More than 50 percent of global population has already been living in the cities and half of them in the cities with more than 1,000 000 inhabitants. It's just to get a picture of urban policies and trends. This morning I have heard there was a building collapse in New Delhi, India. About 15-floor building collapsed in Lalita Park area and killed about 65 ! people and injured more than 80 people. Thinking of what to say in such situation, I relied on my professional skill – urban and landscape architect. That saved me from dangerous and risky emotional attitude. As I browsed Google Earth I have found Lalita park on the river bank surrounded by small field structures, relatively cheap neighborhood typical with obsolete and unmaintained buildings, dusty and muddy roads and some important highways ensuring connection with this suburban area and the centre. Speaking frankly, Lalita Park is the site behind the interest of people coming and living in New Delhi, Indian capital. The demography is featuring mostly rural immigrants seeking better conditions in the city. The truth is seldom they really find it. They end up in these areas, sqeezed in tiny rooms, paying rents for everything that was for free out in the countryside. This is the story of the building that collapsed – it was used as a rental accomodation for hund! reds of „rural“ immigrants. Each of the rooms host! ed betwe en 3 and 6 people – so you can get a picture how was the organization of the site. Well, if you count landlord's unwillingness to improve any kind of conditions, perhaps weak basements, too much inhabitants and some illegal floors being built on the top of the building, if you add extra strong monsoon rains and flooding river in the neighborhood, the collapse was just expected consequence of all these factors. Now the question is when it will come to next collapses and next disasters. The building was connected to the twin house that was afterall evacuated. But the police and firefighters took up to 45 minutes to reach the site – to great anger and pain of local residents – more people could be saved. But the police argues that it was impossible to reach the site due narrow alleyways and bad traffic. Who can wonder about it in these conditions?

Asian tour of the U.S. President Barack Obama is over. Obama who returned to Washinghton on Sunday has been the topic of the day for any American media. All of them were summarizing his achievments during past ten days. The feelings, however were mixed. Obama started high in India and Indonesia, sealing $10 billion deals with Indian companies and cheered emerging economies that were supposed to balance Chinese increasing economic power. Until Seoul all went good for the U.S. But on the meeting of G20 held in South Korean Capital Obama failed to talk „hot“ issues. Instead of expected harsh action against Chinese currency speculation, he spoke about recent Federa! l Reserve's interference into the U.S. economy. The media reaction was low – Obama got an image of coming home with empty hands. He was supposed to make free trade deal with South Korea, but even this goal wasn't fulfilled. Though both sides are open to cooperate and sign the deal in the future, the fact that the deal wasn't signed past days didn't improve morals and image of the U.S. So if speaking frankly, Obama didn't reach everything that was expected, but still got something – an image tolerant and kind visitor of emerging Asian countries. Instability is the Iraq’s second name. Three days of difficult negotiations finally resulted into longed-wished agreement. Iraq’s main factions have agreed on the top three political posts, informed on Thursday one party’s spokesman. Agreement which was discussed with success was finalized on Wednesday’s night and eight-month deadlock that had raised the specter of renewed sectarian violence was ended. Kurdish regional president Masoud Barzani said that incumbent Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s alliance would get the prime minister post. Former premier layd Allawi’s Sunni-backed Iraqiya faction would get the speaker’s post of parlia! ment and Allawi would head a new council of strategic policies. Negotiations that resulted in a “national parthership” government, as Barzani said, could help to stop a return to the factional fighting. However candidates for the top posts were not named so far – it should be formalized at a session of parliament later on Thursday. Lawmakers have said Jalal Talabani, a Kurd, will return as president. While Iraqi politicians praise the God for “a big achievement, which is considered a victory for all Iraqis”, tension that still exists between Shi’ite, Sunni and Kurdish factions will not disappear from one day to another. But Iraqi politicians are not the only one who appreciated this agreement. Also Obama’s administration valued this solution as a significant way out of double bind. As Antony Blinken, US vice-president’s adviser said, this agreement is an important step forward for Iraq. According to him, Iraqi leaders succeed! ed in creating control mechanisms and equilibrium which will n! ot permi t abusing of power by any of the factions.

During the stop he will meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and give a joint press conference. The atmosphere and the program is pretty much the same as in India. Obamas are paying a visit to the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, the burial site of veterans of the Indonesian National Revolution, having official dinner at the presidential palace and move towards China, South Korea and Japan. Obama however, has more personal ties with Indonesia, he spent h! ere 4 years as his divorced mother remarried Indonesian. During the stay between age of 6 and 10, he went to local school and was attending Muslim mosques, however he remained Christian later on. If speaking about religious influences, Indonesia may be a perfect example how relgions live side by side without major conflicts, although Muslim is the major religion here, its strict rules are moderated by numerous ethnical influences – therefore the image of Indonesia is not as polarized and bleak as Western media tend to depict. However, Obama will give some speeches on freedom and democracy and will probably label Indonesia an ally in fighting terrorism. This point is again pretty much the same with Indian stay. Country dispersed on large archipelago is seen as a counter power against emergin China that has become second biggest economy in 2Q. Mount Merapi is a conical volcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is one of at least 129 active volcanoes in Indonesia, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. His name literally means Mountain of Fire. Smoke can be seen emerging from the mountaintop at least 300 days a year and several eruptions have caused fatalities. In April 2006 seismicity at a regular period were noticed, which was red alert to the authorities to be prepared for evacuation process. On April 19 smoke from the crater reached a height of 400 meters and on April 23, some 600 elderly and inf! ant residents of the slopes were evacuated. By early May, active lava flows had begun and on May 13, Indonesian authorities raised the alert status to the highest level, ordering the immediate evacuation of all residents on the mountain. On 23rd of October 2010 lava began flowing down Gendol River, signaling the likelihood of an imminent eruption. Two days later eruptions began in series, several times a day, in the next couple days. On 3 November heat clouds travelled up to 10 kilometers away from the eruption forcing the government to evacuate people from within the refugee camps set up to accommodate those already dislocated by the volcano. It is a big tragedy and there are no words that can explain screaming and pain on the local villagers, leaving their homes caring only tears with them.

When January earthquake hit Haiti, it was clear that it wasn't the last, not the worst catastrophe for the island. Although it killed about 300,000 and turned millions into refugees, the real problems had to started. First, the dislocation of so many people brought problems with coordination and supplies. And when all media buzz went dry, the world, including its biggest power quickly forgot humanitarian promises. U.S. for example haven't sent a penny from $1.15 billion rescue package. The list would go on and on... Rescue workers, doctors and volunteers have to deal with lack of the most basic supplies – hygiene and sanitarian aids, water and food. And even 10 months! after the catastrophe thousands of thousands live in temporary shelters, tents. So many people who live in one place in such conditions are easy target for any kind of disease. Cholera is increasing a death toll, diarrhea is appearing due mud flowing inside of shelters. Hurricane season that started in the spring is not over and Haiti now faces crucial moment. Tropical Storm Thomas that has appeared over Carribean sea is projected to pass over Haiti during the week. So long with destroyed infrastructure, thousands of thousands of dislocated and sick people without supplies, there is a question. How long can the country stand this situation? If the storm turns into Hurricane and flatten huge areas and destroys even camps, what are these people going to do? Earthquake was just the beginning. It made the country vulnerable to all kinds of disasters.

Whenever you mention miners, I have the feeling that the news is going to be bad. I wasn't wrong this time, too. Now, we are not talking about the Chile's case of 33 trapped miners that thanks God are alive and got through three months later. But, I am talking about dozens of Chinese miners that were killed in a flood in the southwestern part of the country. This industry is extremely dangerous and it is not rarely for it to be hit badly. What really happened? As Chinese Xinhua news agency reported, the accident happened when about 50 miners in the Machang town were working underground. The flood hasn't been deadly dangerous for all of them. Fortunately, 38 of them achiev! ed to save their heads. Now, who's fault is this, would be answered right after the police investigation is going to be finished. Mine industry is one with the biggest consequences in this country. Only in the last year, about 2.600 people were killed, not only in the mine industry, but all job-related accidents. This number is even higher. The last bigger accident happened just two weeks ago, when 37 people lost their lives in a gas outburst in the central part of the country. It is inevitable to notice that mines' security is one of the most important thing on which the science of this industry should be focused. Miners shouldn't be left only on the God's whish and on the message that stands on the top of the mines' entrances - Good luck! After such human disasters, who would actually think of being such a worker? Maybe the poor ones that doesn't really have a big choice.

Is human race cursed? Do we vanish from the earth surface soon? And what will finally destroy us? These are the questions occupying heads of many survivors. Last few years, that resemble coming end of the world, are making our attempt to forget just impossible. If we are not going to be perished in this era yet, then inhabitants of Mentawai Islands in Indonesia are tested – and twice! Not only tsunami, but also volcano was the root of death toll of more than 340 people. What is more, tragedies like this one always let hundreds others missed. With growing time there is still smaller chance for surviving. Tsunami which washed away hundreds of wooden and bamboo homes als! o displaced more than 20,000 people. Mount Merapi volcano, in central Java, killed at least 33 people and injured about 17 of them. And many more are missing and maybe will never be found. While President Susilo Bambag Yudhoyono rushed home from a state visit to Vietnam, first cargo plane loaded with tents, medicine, food and clothes landed in this area. But the aim to help is not that easy to put into effect. Chaos and fear is everywhere, people don’t want to leave their homes, but there is no other chance. Corpses in body bags and ruins that hide other dead bodies – that is very grim situation. Those who stayed alive are more afraid than ever before – there is not surprise, the volcano killed also caretaker of the mountain’s spirits just when he was kneeling face-down on the floor and praying…

The international community can yell and advise as much as she wants, but Iran still is going to achieve what it has on its "nuclear" mind. These few years have been a real Tom and Jerry race between the Organization of the United Nations and Iran's government on the issue of the nuclear weapon program. As every day would go by, Iran would have announced a new step into the improvement of the nuclear energy program. This time, Iran chose something less provocative for the Community. It started to load 163 fuel rods into the reactor core of its first nuclear power plant that is built in the southern port city of Bushehr. The process should be done in two months. The thing is! , this object didn't come under U.N sunctions as others did. The Organization wasn't concerned a lot about the devise that was built with the help of the Russian Government and it is directly watched by the U.N. nuclear monitoring agency. Iran celebrates these days the victory over the opposed international community due to the accusations that Iran's plans weren't at all peacefully and good-hearted, but that behind the whole program was hiding a nuclear weapon strategy. I believe that the United States and the United Nations are still not convinced enough about the change of mind of the Iran nuclear experts and government, and they promised with eyes wide open to follow every step that Iran is going to overtake. The first sanctions that the United Nations Security Council has sentenced to Iran was the one for the enrichment of the uranium. That was theirs first suspicion that "something smells in the state of Iran". The government's answer then was that they needed t! he fuel for a network of nuclear power facilities, where the f! irst sta tion was exactly Bushehr.

Imagine the most terrible smell you can. Imagine tons (exactly 2,400 tons) of rubbish poured just in front of your house, lying on the streets. And now imagine this is not just your imagination but reality! A garbage strike which takes place in Italy has led to public protests. The whole problem with trash has arisen because of public outrage over a proposed city dump. The trash was piled up and protesters started even adding to it another trash. This is the way they are saying “no” to it. While people from Italian city Naples are covering their faces due to fear of the smell and toxic waste, Italy is facing sanctions from European Union. Instead of cleaning the! streets of this Italian city, prosecutors in Naples are investigating whether members of the local mafia are involved in this protest. It is not only one month lasting protest, but it also turned violent over the past week. Demonstrators are “repeatedly clashing with police at night, throwing petrol bombs against garbage trucks and setting cars on fire” informed Reuters. Even though the government promised swift action at the weekend, the clashes have continued. Prosecutors suspect members of the Camorra – Naples’ mafia, which makes a fortune from illegally dumping and burning toxic waste. Although mafia usually prefers being away from the spotlight, according to prosecutors this time it could be different. In their opinion members of the Camorra can be infiltrated among the protesters and be intentionally supporting the protest. As the Legambiente, environmental group said: “The Camorra has been turning waste into cash for decades in and arou! nd Naples.”

Mount Merapi, located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is the most active volcano in Indonesia erupting regularly since 16th century. Some time ago, scientists informed the public about an increasing seismicity from the volcano that has been first recorded in early September. On 25 October 2010 the Indonesian government raised the alert concerning Mount Merapi to the highest level,4 , and prompted villagers to retreat to safe distance. People living within 10 km from the volcano were evacuated. However, there were many of those who refused to leave and simply continued their everyday activities working the fields. So far, the eruption claimed a! t least 28 lives, most of them due to burns and respiratory failure caused by the ashes. Among the dead was also an elder, Mbah Marijan, known as the volcano´s spiritual gatekeeper. However, the scientists fear the worst might not still be over. There is danger of the volcano releasing deadly gases and debris. "It's a little calmer today," said Surono, the chief of Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation. "No hot clouds, no rumbling. But a lot of energy is pent up back there. There's no telling what's next." Up to present day, Mount Merapi has already claimed many lives. In 1994, 64 people were killed. In 1930, 13 villages were destroyed and more than 1,400 people died. On Wednesday, many evacuated people returned to their homes to continue their daily activities despite officials´ warnings. "We'll do everything we can to stop them," said Hadi Purnomo, the district chief in the town of Sleman. "There's no life there. The trees, farms, houses are s! corched. Everything is covered in heavy gray ash." Indonesia h! as more active volcanoes than any other country. Mount Tambora, for example, is known for the most violent eruption in history in 1815.

To most of us cholera is a disease of the past. 19th century in particular saw several cholera pandemics. Most likely, cholera has its origins in the Indian subcontinent. Through the trade routes it spread all over the world. Unfortunately, cholera is quite common sight today in developing countries. In other parts of the world it is prevented by filtering and chlorination of water. Right now i tis Haiti that struggles cholera outbreak. The reason for the spread of the disease might be traced back to the devastating earthquake in January 2010, that had an impact on living conditions in the country. So far, more than 250 people died and over 3,000 are infected. The first ca! ses of the disease were recorded last week. Symptoms include sever diarrhea, dehydration, fever and abdominal pain. It may also cause vomiting. The symptoms develop suddenly several days after infection. In Haiti, people fear that cholera could reach the capital of Port-au-Prince with its widespread poverty zones. So far, five cholera patients have bee reported in the capital, however, all of them being isolated incidents. “There are significant numbers of patients in St. Nicholas Hospital in St. Marc, which does not have the capacity to handle a cholera emergency,” said Federica Nogarotto, MSF emergency coordinator in St. Marc, Haiti. “The most important thing is to isolate the cholera patients there from the rest of the patients, in order to best treat those people who are infected and to prevent further spread of the disease. This will also enable the hospital to run as normally as possible. We are setting up a separate, isolated cholera treatment cent! er now Authorities are confident anough about preventing the s! pread of cholera to the capital with the help of aid workers. .” Last time, Haiti experienced cholera pandemic in the 1960s.

There was a powerful quake of magnitude 6.9 in the Sea of Cortez off Mexico's Baja California on Thursday. The quake struck towns on both sides of the narrow sea. Fortunately, no one reported immediate major damage or injuries. Building of the tourist resort of La Paz on the Baja California peninsula were shaken in the strong quake. The resort is famous for its whale watching. The qake shoo buildings also along the coast of the state of Sinaloa. An assistant to the mayor of Ahome in Sinaloa, said they had been in the town hall when the quake hit. They all run out, the quake caused only minor damage to the facade of the building. Emergency officials in Sinaloa did not recei! ve any reports of serious damage. However, they are investigating reports of evacuating some buildings. In the cities of Guasave, and Los Mochis and Culiacan, hotels and public buildings were evacuated. The quake did not impact operations of Sempra Energy, a company operating a liquefied natural gas import terminal on the Pacific Coast of Baja California. The center of the quake was in the south of the Sea of Cortez, the place is also known as the Gulf of California. It lays 65 miles south of Los Mochis in Sinaloa on the mainland. The center of the quake was only 6.2 miles below the seabed, which is very shallow. According to the Pacific Tsunami center, the quake did not cause a tsunami. But the center agreed the quake could cause local waves.

No one wants to capitulate. While Nicolas Sharkozy says he understands striking people and he has no right to criticize them, he will never let them to hold ordinary people and the French economy as hostages. Union resistance is still tough. Streets of Lyon are full of destroyed cars and broken displays. Policemen have arrested more than 2,000 people yet, but as it seems, the “war” will keep continuing. Overhauling of the pension system is vital to ensuring that future generations receive any pensions at all, says Sarkozy. It is a choice many European governments are facing as populations live longer and government debts soar. But French unions are defending. By! their words, retirement at 60 is a hard-earned right and it will not be abandoned so easily. They not only claim that the working class will be unfairly punished by the pension reform, but they also fear it will be the first step in ending an entire network of benefits. The biggest threat of this year’s strike is the luck of oil. As the strikers are blockading two key oil terminals, the problem isn’t so much finding the oil, but getting it in to the country, said Jean-Louis Schilansky, the head of the national petroleum industry body. The gas and oil shortages have hit many sectors of the French economy. As the unions announced two more days of protest nationwide – next week and the week after, maybe the government’s prediction of 2 percent economic growth next year will not be fulfilled that easily.

Preliminary results from the last month’s Afghanistan parliamentary elections have been released. While Western authorities were last month talking about success, Afghan president Hamid Karzaj wasn’t that sure. As he said, shortly after the election rooms were closed, it was too soon for Afghanistan to draw any conclusions from election and its organization. After month there are numbers that can shock. As Associated Press informed, there were more than 20 percent of ballots thrown out because of fraud. According to election commission chairman Fazel Ahmad Manawi, it means there were about 1.3 million votes disqualified. From the total number of 5.6 million vote! s, it is nothing insignificant. But as leaders from European Union has stressed, these elections highlighted “the will of the Afghan people to create future of their own country.” OSN also valued courage of Afghan people and their decision to use their own democratic right to vote. However these elections were as much about courage, as about fear. Taliban which was threatening people with attacks of voting rooms, was discouraging many voters, especially those illiterate ones. More than 300 of terrorization cases say more about the daily reality in Afghanistan than any other political statement about national courage. People are afraid, their lives, just like the lives of their family members are more important than so long promised democracy. But there were also problems with voting stations – some of them were not opened at all and in some of them was lack of ballot papers or other material . Anyway, western representatives still consider it was success. ! As they say, for the country with no experience with democracy! system these election’s results are optimistic.

The police in Mexico disclosed 105 tons of marijuana. It is the biggest seizure of marijuana that the police has found in many years. Its price on the black market in the United States would be at least two millions euro. During the police operation eleven people were arrested. One policeman and one suspicious were injured. More then ten thousands of packages with drug were found in several houses and cars in Tijuana. The city of Tijuana is on the border with American Sand Diego. Army officials initially estimated the value of the found drug of 4.2 billion pesos which is about $340 million. But after they counted all 15,300 packages they found out that the weight of the dru! g is even bigger - 134.2 tons. The drugs probably belonged to Sinaloa cartel. Gunfight started when convoy of cars started shooting on the ordinary police city guard. Just after the shooting army troops came to the place to support the police guard. After that army searched through the city and found out packages of marijuana hidden in the houses and cars. The drug was assigned for the black market in the United states. Mexico is a transit area on one of the several tracks for drug smuggling especially from South American Colombia. It is also one of the biggest producers of marijuana in the world. Mexico's president Felipe Calderon promised to repress the drug cartels in the country. Since he became a president four years ago, at least 30 thousands people died in the fight with the cartels.

Being in France now is more than dangerous to life. All the romantic images which you see when someone says “Paris” are gone. No Eiffel Tower, no Seina, only anger, violence and streets full of people. While youths in masks are smashing storefronts in the France’s main city, hundreds of flights to and from the country are canceled every day and drivers are looking for gas. But “there are [still] people who want to work, the immense majority.” said President Nicolas Sarkozy. Thursday will be another “testing” day, as students plan a day of mobilization with a demonstration in Paris hours before the Senate is to vote on the retirement! measure. Even though France remembers a long tradition of street protests, the current one is particularly worrisome as it has touched the vital energy sector. While young French are scared of increase of retirement age (from 60 to 62), current pensioners are afraid that the pension system they were years working for, will go bankrupt. According to unions, the move would erode France’s near-sacred tradition of generous social benefits. As one of protesters said: “France wouldn’t be what it is today if the generations, that came before us hadn’t taken to the streets.” Except Paris, the most violent clashes occurred in Lyon. Increase of retirement age was Sarkozy’s priority reform, but its fulfillment will be the last nail in the Sarkozy’s political coffin. Polls show him as unpopular as ever – from 1000 surveyed people, 61 percent gave Sarkozy negative rating.

Six people have died and another 17 were wounded in the Islamic attack of Chechnya’s parliament that happened yesterday. The insurgents have chosen a brazen suicide raid to make some noise in the country that on the other hand doesn’t know of what the peace looked like. Though some politicians, including Russians that the southern region of the country is peaceful already they happen not to be right. One of the reasons why this riot is happening right now might be the recent Russia’s interior minister to Grozny. I still don’t know, how comes today when we live in such a world of technology, in the time of the intelligence services and smart methods! of pointing out the enemies, some country’s security can be hurt. In this example, three fanatic men have succeeded to enter the parliament building. One of them only entered the room and killed himself. The two others just run into the building shouted “God is great” in Arabic language. What fanatics! They swore in God’s name and at the same time were killing people! No one really knows how did the two people died, but that on the other hand is the last thing that is important in the case. As media reported, Russian political leaders, the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and President Dmitri Medvedev had offered any kind of help that Chechnya would need in confronting the military attacks and its consequences. It is so funny that some members of the Parliament are still trying to convince the international public that North Caucus is the secure place to be and live. But, that is so hard to believe, especially after such kinds of bloodshed. `

Story of Chilean miners reminds me of Marylin Manson's song. Let me tell you – they love you when you are on the cover, when you are not, they love another. This is the bitter and sarcastic situation of people who tasted the fame and glory. This is the irony of people who barely escaped a certain death and survived in conditions in which most of people would immediatelly give up. The most interesting part comes after whole nation, no, no, it was the whole world stunning at their resurrection. Each important world media was there broadcasting Phoenix capsule taking them up, one by one. One by one got out and all of them tasted flashes of media cameras. President did h! is job and rich oligarchs promised them life long salaries. They were pracitcally millionaires who were free to choose doing anything they wanted. If the promises would had been kept. But they were not. And today again, we witness another chapter of their life story. Unemployed people returning back to their homes. The company who ran the mine ended in bankruptcy – and one has to say, it was the only expected end. The company got rid of responsibility and left thousands of unemployed people. Mine was one of major job centers in the area and pulled its economic, yet vulnerable stability. Miners, including those 33 stars returned home to get nothing, but wind. What are they going to do? Selling candies? Listen, dear reader, there is nothing more illusive than the media fame and richmen's promises. Taste it, get wiser and think of those who went through hell to received nothing. And think of million of other miners who will die, unknown, just because there won't be medi! a and commercial demand for another breaking-news.

They used to be ordinary miners that no one knew about. But now, they have become national heroes. Outside the hospital, where miners were placed to be examined, there are reporters, TV producers, publicity agents and journalists desperate to hear their adventurous story. The miners were successfully rescued on Thursday and consequently they were given fashionable sunglasses that should protect them from the bright light. After 69 days buried under the ground in the darkness their eyes have become very sensitive and that is the reason they need to wear sunglasses. Just one day after their rescue the miners wearing hospital bathrobes posed for a group photo with Chilean Pres! ident Sebastian Pinera. For more than two weeks no one knew whether the “los 33”, as they were known, is alive or not. The men say it was the unity that helped them to survive. Until they are in the hospital, they under the care of a government operation that has protected them. The rescuers did a good job, the rescue campaign was carefully coordinated and all miners are in good conditions. But once they walk out the hospital doors, they have to take care of themselves. It seems they will not have a chance to take a rest. Their first day of fresh air they were probably the 33 most in-demand people on the planet. For example a Greek mining company offered the miners holidays on the sunny Aegean islands. But they have much more offers. Soccer teams in Madrid, Manchester and Buenos Aires want them in their stadiums, President of Bolivia invited them at his palace and many others from all over the world invites them to come.

On Friday, the first three rescued Chilean miners rescued the hospitals and joyfully celebrated their new lives of national heroes. Overnight they have become stars not only in Chile, but also all over the world. All 33 miners have decided to tell their story all together. That is probably the reason why no one of them have told any dramatic details of 69 days spent trapped 1 kilometer beneath the Atacama desert. Just few hours before his rescue, Omar Reygadada, a 56 year old electrician, said his daughter that the miners agreed to divide all their earnings from interviews, media appearances, movies or books. They have also told their family members not to tell anything to ! the media without their permission. Hundreds of reporters came on Thursday to small provincial capital to watch how the men are being rescued through a narrow hole that took a month to drill. A shift foreman at the San Jose mine was rescued as the last one and he told The Associated Press that they have hired an accountant that will track their income from public appearances and divide it to all miners. Pablo Ramirez, 29, had lowered himself into the mine after it collapsed and tried to reach his friends. Today he said that the miners will speak together as a group and will provide all the details. Ramirez together with another roughly 360 miners have no job because the government closed San Jose mine as unsafe. As an experienced miner he has good job prospects, but his rescued friends have absolutely different prospects as they are now the most in-demand people on the planet.

Nebudem klamať. Včera som strávila niekoľko hodín nalepená na obrazovke a sledovala koniec čílskej story. Dráma 33 baníkov, ktorí strávili v podzemí 69 dní sa posunula do záverečného štádia – a včera sa záchranárom podarilo na povrch dostať posledného z nich. Príde mi to vlastne veľmi krásne, už vďaka tomu, že je to na všetkých svetových mediálnych kanálch. A o to krajšie, pretože správy zvyčajne vyhľadávajú tie bombastické a negatívne správy. B! aníkov sa na povrch podarilo vytiahnúť cez jednoduchú spúšťaciu kapsulu s príznačným názvom – Fénix. Baníci po jednom nastupovali do len 50 cm širokej kabíny a vydali sa smerom nahor. Pomaly, pomaly. Prekonanie tých 600 metrov trvalo asi 15 minút. Skúšam si predstaviť tú situáciu. Strávim v tme 69 dní, zažijem extrémne sociálne podmienky, neviem o svete tam hore takmer nič a opäť, vojdem do mechanizmu, ktorý je mojou pôrodnou cestou. Smerujem na povrch. V tesnom priestore, nie širšom ako rakva. Stúpam nahor. Fénix pri operácii, ktorá trvala okolo 34 hodín nezaznamenal žiadne technické poruchy. Pri povrchu sa združilo takmer celé Čile. No, nie možno celé, ale početná skupina záchranárov a blízkych a počas celej! akcie bol prítomný súčasný prezident! . Ten os tal aj potom, čo média stratili záujem. Avšak s posledným z nich prepukli veľké emócie. Ľudia v čílskych mestách sa združovali na verejných priestranstvách a sledovali tento proces cez obrazovky. Zvláštne, veľmi dojemné vidieť masy ľudí smiať sa, modliť a plakať zároveň. Ak by tu bol nejaký historik, povedal by, že toto je moment, ktorý spája národ. Skromne by som doplnila – moment, ktorý spája ľudstvo. Pretože my všetci máme v žilách rovnakú krv a vždy sa to môže stať aj nám. V tomto svete nemáme nič viac, len ľudí...

I won't lie. Yesterday I spend few hours glued on television and watching the end of Chilean drama. The story of 33 miners who spent about 69 days deep underground hit all world media during past two months. And yesterday was the day when the story ended and despite mostly negative reports in media, this time it had its happy ending. The capsule Phoenix went up and down and brought all 33 miners back to the surface, back to the light. The capsule was a primitive elevator, only about 50 cm wide going deep about 600 meters. One by one, miners went in and closed their eyes while being pulled up in this very narrow chimney. Try to imagine 15 minutes in a space wide just few cen! timeters more than half a meter, going up, feeling the nearing human society. You and the machine in the dark, narrow space. Heading for the light. Some compared the mine to the woman giving a birth to the child. All miners went up the chimney without any technical problems – the whole action took about 33-34 hours. When they got outside, they were all wearing sunglasses, protecting them from the sun, since they spent two months in the dark. But they brought also Chilean flag and some small stones with them. It was a happy day for the whole country. People stayed in crowds on the streets all around Chile, watching this rescue action on big screens, praying and smiling and crying at the same time. If there would be a historician, he/she would say – these were the moments joining the nations together. But I would only make one humble note– it brought all the people together , it brought all humans, since the same blood runs through our veins as well.

THAT is incredible and attention-worthy! After 69 days (!!!) miners from Chilean earth were freed! Wednesday was the lucky day not only for miners themselves but also and mostly for their families. The whole rescue action started at midnight and by early afternoon, more than half the men had been rescued. The whole operation was strictly monitored by video on the way up for any sign of panic. Miners had oxygen masks, dark glasses to protect their eyes from unfamiliar daylight. Mario Sepulveda, the second miner who tasted freedom said: “I think I had extraordinary luck. I was with God and with the devil. And I reached out for God.” When the miners were buried by ! 700,000 tons of rock on August 5, no one dared to believe they would survive! For the first 17 days, no one even knew whether they were alive. But after more than three months they are out and alive, and some of them are even making fun of it – Sepulveda for instance shortly after being pulled out of buried mine, handed out souvenir rocks from the mine to laughing rescuers. After first eight miners were rescued, health minister Jaime Manalich told a news conference that all of them were in good health, even the diabetic among them. “This rescue operation has been so marvelous, so clean, so emotional that there was no reason not to allow the eyes of the world to see it.” said President Sebastian Pinera. All 33 miners, among whom the youngest is 19-year-old and the oldest 63-year-old, are OK!

What if it were your house and you would suddenly became a refugee? These questions are not science-fiction, but the bleak reality for residents of several Hungarian villages. When the dam containing bauxit and aluminium residuals broke down, it made a history as the worst ecological and probably also human catastrophe. Thousands of tho! usands of liters flew out and flooded four villages leaving 7 deads and more than one hundred badly wounded people. Reactive hydroxide left the soil and all surfaces dangerous to even touch. MAL Rt, the owner of the alumina plant in Ajka said it was sorry for the damages and although it was willing to pay compensations, it didn't take the responsibility for the dam failure. And while EU sought to pressure the government to prevent the toxic mud and waste to enter Danube river, the case didn't seem to be finished. While dam released about a half of its content, another cracks have appeared on the northern wall of the reservoir. The dam could be torn apart again – that would be the worst case scenario for people of Kolontar, the government and ecosystems. Technicians talk about building a sarcopfagus for the dam, but it may take months. So far there is a red alert, sword of Damocles hangs above heads of roughly 6,000 residents, packed and ready to leave at any moment.! ..

Thirty three trapped miners should rejoin the outside world soon according to the mining minister Laurence Golborne. The drilling equipment is currently being prepared for the final stage of the rescue efforts. The miners have been trapped 700 meters below the ground since 5 August when the San Jose mine collapsed. Theatrical parade, multimedia performance, military show up, thousands of people standing in lines cheering up. This was the picture of Sunday Pyongyang, North Korea. Since the current leader Kim Jong Il suffered heartattack in 2008, talks about his potential follower have taken place. Who would he be? Would he be one of his family members or some experienced general? As time went by the attention was paid to his third son Kim Jong Un. The young man whose date of birth is disputed (officially given and changed several times by North Korean government), but should be around his 27/28 yrs. Kim Jong Un attended Swiss school and even the name of the school is disputed –! while one source said it was English-language International School in Berne, some said it was Gumlingen International School or Liebefeld public school. He was studying under false name and identity – Kim Jong Un was meant to be a driver's son. Switzerland was chosen for its neutrality in conflicts between North and South Korea. There was always a kind of tabu around Kim Jong Un. While there are information about his language skills and sport preferences (like being a fan of Skiing and basketball), his photographs were censored and released only after official permission. Until 2010, there were only few pictures from mid-1990's. This fall he appeared on party conference where he was seated in front row, just two places from his fatner. First hints of North Korean successor fell on his older brother Kim Jong-nam. But back in 2001 the oldest son was caught attempting to enter Japan on fake passport and fell out of father's and party's favor. The flood that overtook Hungary might put at risk dozens of other nations as well, warn the environmental groups from the European Union. That might cost huge aftermath for people, because the sludge flood has been toxic. The investigative agencies in this country already started the criminal research about who is guilty for this disaster. The experts are afraid that Danube might carry on with its flow the Hungarians problem too. What really happened? A sludge reservoir burst at the metals plants in Ajka, a town about 160 kilometers from Budapest. Some hundreds people had to leave their homes and find a better place to stay. But, not all of them were lucky. Four lost their! lives, one less is missing and about 120 people were injured. Cars flew, bridges were torn apart, and the waste “visited” others Hungarian towns as well. The officials still are not familiar to the reason that provoked this failure. They even say that only two weeks ago, the plant’s reservoir has been inspected and everything was just fine. But, the responsibility doesn’t end at this point. It is completely normal that the National Police had opened the case because it is possible that some guardians haven’t done their job well. It is still not known whether the disaster may not repeat again, so the emergency rate is at great level. The EU finds that this problem might become a bigger disaster for other countries where Danube circulates. According to Greenpeace International, this disaster is one of the top three that had happened in Europe in the last two or three decades.

When you come from one less developed country like mine (Republic of Macedonia), or wherever but not those well developed and “highly” civilized countries from the central parts of Europe, then don’t you must be used to more checking and controls whenever you decide to travel somewhere. For the western world, you are a threat of a possible criminal, robbery man, terrorist. And, who are the most paranoid nations in the world today? One, two, three…I know you have guessed – off course, the Anglo-Saxons successors, British and American people. Whenever you hear about some terroristic act, than you know that it was “dedicated” to them. ! US government warned its citizens that al Qaeda might hurt people at airports, bus stations, trains… The same went to the British people as well. They specified the most for those Brits and US people that aim to travel in some European country. It is good that summer is over so tourists are less and less presented in all the interesting destinations, but still. How paranoid should one be, when your government tells you to watch out your back wherever you are, in no matter what country?!! I mean, how could I pay attention? What should one do to stay secure? Here’s how the warning sounded like: "The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to the potential for terrorist attacks in Europe" - it was written on its website. The officials say that the most dangerous destinations at the moment are Germany and France. The intelligence services came to the information that militant people from Pakistan are dispersed all over Europe.

Warnings against upcoming terrorist attack in European metropolis. Mass produced e-mails and messages to hundreds of thousands of American citizens living and traveling around Europe. The content is clear – be aware of terrorist attack and avoid usual American hanging points in Europe. If you notice something dangerous in public space, better to get out and disappear. Well, that is what´s been done past week by nonprofit group IES after media announced potential plot of terrorist attack in Paris and London. Although nothing really happened and the U.S. government has refused to submit further data or evidence except of mentioning al-Qaida backgrond to the public! , American citizen have been alerted. Is this all a speculation? One has a reason to believe that. American media have already began discussion about potential threats for tourism in crisis and debt ridden Europe. And this buzz seems to take place over internet and press, despite the fact airlines and hotels don´t report any major change or decline. IES sent around 1,500 e-mails to college students in study abroad trips and also their parents – to send their children the same message twice by themselves. But according to the same media, the message didn´t have any major impact neither among students nor among travelers. Perhaps the decline would have been caused only if there was some specific warning. Eiffel Tower was evacuated two time during past two weeks – first there was a bomb hoax phone call and the second was also a terrorist attack that didn´t happen. The same measures were taken in several places in London including royal palace, Tr! afalgar Square and Victoria station.

It is believed that three hundred houses were buried in a rural Mexican community early Tuesday. While authorities in the town of Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec say about 7 killed and 100 missing people, numbers from state’s leader Ulises Ruiz differ – 4 killed and 12 missing. Whatever the numbers are, the situation is desperate. Communication with the town was impossible because of mud, rocks and in one case a collapsed bridge for 10 hours because they were blocking roads. What is more, bad weather prevented helicopters from being used so people had to wait till Red Cross workers reached them. Those residents who had luck and stayed alive were trying to dig out the! ir neighbors but without success. “We have been using a backhoe but there is a lot of mud. We can’t even see the homes, we can’t hear shouts, we can’t hear anything.” said Donato Vargas, an official in Santa Maria de Tlahuitoltepec. There is another hill in another area of town which threatens this Sierra Norte community which is maintaining its indigenous culture. “We are in a serious risk situation. In all of our neighborhoods there are houses and roads cracked and about to fall.” Vargas said. Heavy rains are troubling the whole Central America where it caused deadly floods and landslides. In Honduras, for instance, four people drowned in rivers swollen by Tropical Storm Matthew. Three adults died also in the town of El Oregano and one child in the Caribbean coast town of La Lima. About 30 people were killed by a landslide in Colombia. Nature is treating us badly, and again, there is nothing we can do to stop it.

They laughed at their Euro zone compatriot Greece, but they forgot to look themselves in the mirror. I am talking about the French government, that gave so much advises and suggestions how Greek politicians to find solutions over their crises, and now we come to the moment when media announced that French country has looked into the pockets weight too often, forgetting to remember how much it really has to spend. Now, of course, something has to be done, for the governmental account to be improved and brought into some kind of “normal” situation. Nicolas Sarkozy’s friends from the centre-right government decided to take some measures, like control the civ! il service spending, decrease tax breaks and with that, create a better starting point for the 2011 budget. For the next year, as the statistics say, France total debt will reach 86.2 percent of the national output for that year. Everybody is aware that people don’t like austerity measures – some other countries have already proved that, like Greece, Spain, Britain. The situation in France hasn’t been pinky. Workers have protested for the decision of increasing the retirement age to 62 from 60, which is a certain trend in whole developed Europe. No matter what he does now, Sarkozy will certainly have consequences on the next elections, after two years. But, people don’t care for trends, they search for their rights. That reform is one of the blackest smudge for Sarkozy’s presidency. His ratings are getting worse as each day goes by. France still has a triple-A credit rating, which makes her an attracting country for making business.

Al Qaeda is threatening again. This time their targets were few major European cities like London, some in France and Germany, as well. But, the plans have been ruined by intelligence agencies in the countries. As they report, the terrorists were Pakistani people that had a mission to attack in a short time more important strategic places in Europe. The United States of America are as well imposed to possible threats, reported some counter-terrorist agencies. This doesn’t mean that if the criminals were stopped now, that the story is with a happy ending. These people never sleep and it seems that they are not going to give up their idea. The first signs of possible! attacks came two weeks ago, when US people marked nine years of the worst day in a lot of people’s lives. One of the most paranoid people after Americans, with no doubt are British people. And, maybe with so much terroristic threats in the last dozens of years, they have every right to be. France as well was shaken these days by a false bomb alarm around the Eiffel Tower and the Champ de Mars park. It started to happen very often, such kinds of false alerts that make French people nervous as well. Initiated in North Africa, but already emigrated in the country, French security officials were warning that disturbing days are still to come. Because they don’t want the enemy to surprise them, US military services have already killed some al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan, these days. “We are not going to comment on specific intelligence, as doing so threatens to undermine intelligence operations that are critical to protecting the U.S. and our allies,”! ; James Clapper, the director of national intelligence said. !

For the second time in past two weeks the Eiffel tower had to be evacuated. First time it was due anonymous bomb threat call. This time it was due international anti-terrorist agencies intervention. The same measures were taken also in Buckhingam pallace and other places in Great Britain, France and Germany. What appeared to be aired only with a slight echo in media, turned out to be coordinated action of American and European police departments and though the action was commented by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as a significant preliminary security step and a cooperation, she refused to give any other detail on the action. What has really happened? According to! The Associated Press, the terror attack in its embryonic stages was uncovered. Though Big Ben, Buckingham Pallace or Victoria stations were ran by armed police members, AP's source said it didn't change the security threat level from severe to critical. Clinton mentioned al-Qaeda among suspitious organizations. Police was able to detect grey movements from Ahmed Siddiqui, German citizen who was captured in Afghanistan this summer. But so far, not much has been known about the attack and public can be rather confused about real possibility of a terrorist attack. Steps and media tensions increased after Spanish officials arrested an American citizen with Algerian background. Mohamed Omar Debhi was taken into custody due suspicion of financing al-Qaida's cells in North Africa. Though Debhi, 43 himself was neither a member of a plot, nor a direct chain in terror attacks, his duty was to laundry the money to Algeria.

It is in the human nature to want to live a mark for the new generations. With no doubt, genetics is all about that, we create families, we reproduce so eagerly wanting to fight the death and transience and lust for eternity. These feelings are basic for each normal living being. And, now, if you put some political manners and desires, imagine that you lead a huge country for decades and it is time for you to go, you are too old or just tired, who would you want to replace you and go on with your ideology? That would off course be your children, if you have one. This example is very fresh and comes from North Korea. The leader KimJong II has succeeded to convince his people! that his youngest son is the right choice for their country. Probably the next heir of the powerful nuclear weapon country name is KimJong Un. He belonged to the Workers Party. Now, they say live the world to young people, but this time, it is weight too much. This young man still hasn’t his 30’s and his proud father has promoted him into a four-star general, few days ago. For me, it is still very strange that a man that has been born only twenty something years ago and had been educated in Switzerland, a very developed European country, can belong to a communist party, no matter if his father is the leader of its people. How come some progressive idea hasn’t showed to change his mind? Maybe it simply runs in the family – his father has replaced his grandfather, after his death 16 years ago. I still hope that youthfulness will bring something good to the people in North Korea.

“Asian” tactics are remarkable! What France24 calls a “diplomatic spat” I would call a terrible mistake. Detention of a Chinese fishing boat together with its captain jeopardizes future cooperation between China and Japan on much more serious issues than they would probably expect. As a senior fellow and Asia expert Dr. Kerry Brown has said, this action could damage not only years of work, but also other development and security of these countries. As he told France24: “Japan has given China significant economic help in the past, and both countries have common problems such as energy, natural resources and an increasingly volatile North Korea. ! They need to cooperate.” While Japan has extended the detention and questioned Chinese captain accused of hitting two Japanese vessels in disputed waters, economies of these two countries have become more intertwined in recent years. Although there have been no signs so far the dispute would hurt business relations, other relations have been temporarily stopped. Beijing suspended on Sunday ministerial and provincial-level contacts and official Chinese youth organization cancelled a visit to Shanghai. China, which suspended “all senior government contacts” with Japan, also demands immediate release of the captain without any preconditions. What is more, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu also said: “If Japan acts willfully despite advice to the contrary and insists on making one mistake after another, the Chinese side will take strong countermeasures, and all the consequences should be borne by the Japanese side.” Incident took place near the ! group of islands called Senkaku, which is controlled by Japan ! since 19 72 and which is claimed by both countries. But according to Japanese Foreign Minister there is no territorial question existing.

Nuclear employees kidnapped in Niger by Milota Sidorova

Five days ago seven people were kidnapped in Niger. Five of them were French, including married couple, one was from Madagascar and one from Togolese. But all of them were working in nuclear programs – according to official reports they were kidnapped overnight Wednesday to Thursday by a group of gunmen. But so far French officials and Nigerien authorities haven't been sure who was behind the accident – the possibilities were at least two – Areva nuclear firm employe, his wife and five more workers of another French company, Sogea Satom were ambushed by a group of local Touareg rebels or by al Qaeda's North African affiliates. The group was able to break! through two layers of security guards – this fact seemed to be supporting a theory the attack was carefully planned. French officials suggest they would do „everything to help the hostages“, but so far they have been considering possible scenarios for the abduction. There were several Touareg's kidnappings in last years, they successfully managed to take over an executive with the Chinese uranium company in 2007. They were always trying to pressure uranium mining companies in the region and hopes that the hostages would come back unharmed were high. There was no case of a murder of foreigner in Touareg community, but it could be different if Al Qaeda was behind it. Although they kidnapped and released dozens of foreigners, they also executed at least two hostages after open attack between the group and French army in Niger back in July 2010. The recent act would also had a symbolic meaning – kidnapping of employees of nuclear companies should be a w! arning sign for France that draws about 80 percent of its elec! tricity from nuclear resources, mostly coming from Niger.

Holding leader of your own country in high regard is a general phenomenon which can be presented in many forms. But how to know which form of respect is just too much? How to know where are the borders of showing this respect? Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has probably too many followers and admirers, or at least one but true. And that one has probably the biggest problem with recognizing these borders. The state-run newspaper Al-Ahram clearly feels their President Mubarak fits into the category of those who lead and that’s why he deserves the best “seat” anywhere he goes. But no one would expect the position on photographs is also that important! Origi! nally, the Egyptian President Mubarak together with the Israeli and Palestinian leaders Binyamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas were shot as trailing behind Barack Obama. On the second picture, edited by Egyptian newspaper, he was leading President Obama and other world leaders like he was at home. When two, but quite different pictures from the Middle East peace talks at the White House came into the world, reactions were various. But most of them reminded reaction of the BBC channel which reported that Al-Ahram apparently had some fun with Photoshop. The doctored picture was exposed by the Egyptian blogger Wael Khalil and quickly struck a chord with Egypt’s vibrant network of online opposition activist. As many other spoof versions of this 82-year-old President exist, there is no certainty, this was the last one. Muburak has already been landing on the moon, breaking the 100m world record and hoisting aloft the World Cup.

Mexican “el grito” also called “Cry of Independence” is one of the most significant celebrations in the country. Every year the days from Sept. 15 to 16 are the days of honoring the 1810 war that threw off Spanish rule and this event has assumed an almost mythic status. Each year on the night of September 15, the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. After that, he repeats a cry of patriotism with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican War of Independence. After the three shouts of “Viva Mexico!” he rings the bell again and waves the Flag of Mexico to the applause of the crowd. But while past ! years were under sign of people celebrating on the streets, this year’s grito may be the most subdued ever, as fears of violence keep vast number of Mexicans off their plazas. Drug war that in the past 3 ½ years has killed more than 28,000 people is terrifying everyone. Mexico had to fight many years against their inner enemies such as president-dictator Porfirio Diaz that turned Mexico into one of Latin America’s most disgraceful oligarchies, where most of the population lived little better than dogs. These days Mexico is facing another challenge – narco-violence and drug industry which is one of the biggest barriers in Mexico’s egalitarianism. But Mexico has also a lot to celebrate this week. Its democracy is taking deeper root and its economy is far more modern and productive than it was 16 years ago. And President Calderon with his anti-narco campaign and sweeping reforms that as he hoped would modernize and professionalize Mexico’s dy! sfunctional judiciary, is trying to ensure long-term instituti! onal cha nge! Let’s then shout: “Viva Mexico!”

Past years, a growing number of weather accidents have been detected over American continent and Mexican Gulf area. American meteorologists increasing tropical storm activity has been a general feature of this season. Last week it was Earl tropical storm that changed into a hurricane threatening Eastern U.S. coastline, including N.Y. These days a trio of newcomers have appeared over the Atlantic Ocean. Three at the same time are twisting over great masses of water each following different direction. Tropical storm named Karl is currently heading towards oil-production area in Mexico´s Bay of Campeche. Tropical Storm Julia that meanwhile transformed into a hurricane is! the case of headaches of even European meteorologists, because since it moves over the ocean it is absorbing energy. Temperature gaps, pressure differences and the presence of enormous water masses change into strong windy streams rotating water walls that we see as a hurricane. And while i tis over the ocean its power can just increase, once it reaches the coast, it looses the water and engines created by mentioned temperature, humidity and pressure gaps. So far Julia remains an free mover hurricane, but it could influence weather in Europe – this situation is however not very common. If it would be strong enough it could create pressure depression followed by heavy rainy clouds that could slowly move towards Europe. And it the depression would be too low, it could also stayed there for days, rising fears for new floods. The third Hurricane Igor that still remains on Category 4 is expected to run over Bermudas during the weekend.

How long will these peace talks last? It took years till Israel and Palestine agreed with formation of two separate states. As George Mitchell, the Obama administration’s envoy for Middle East peace, said on Tuesday their common goal is to create two states for two nations. But as it seems it will not be as easy. After two days of inconclusive Mideast peace negotiations, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said he sees no alternative to continuing the talks in search of a peace deal with Israel. During a welcoming ceremony for his visit of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton he said: “We all know there is no alternative to peace through negotiations, so w! e have no alternative other than to continue these efforts.” While Clinton reiterates all over again her determination to find compromise solution, Egypt’s leader Hosni Mubarak urges Israel to curb West Bank settlement construction for three more months to give peacemaking a chance. Mubarak allegedly told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the delay could give the both sides time to draft their future borders and reasoned that after those lines are agreed, both sides can build within its future borders. Although this way of thinking is logical, Netanyahu’s office said that Israel doesn’t plan to extend the building restrictions currently in place, which are due to expire in late September. As Associated Press informed, the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations which started Tuesday in Egypt and concluded Wednesday in Jerusalem produced no apparent breakthrough. As both sides expressed, they would continue striving toward their goal of a final! settlement within one year.

The Atlantic Ocean is overhung by three storms that already came these days. Dangerous Karl, Igor and Julia are nice names for human beings, but terrible when you connect them with the word storm or hurricane in front of them. The Bay of Campache in Mexico has been under threat and more fear has risen that the Gulf of Mexico, the much talked about in the recent months after the oil spill, is endangered as well. We're not living in era of any consistent political system. Communism as well as capitalism changed and even if media speak of „communist“ leaders or „capitalist“ models and free market, it don't really exist. It's been all changed and hybridized, influenced by new models. On the other hand, some of the greatest philosophers suggest that no idea is sustainable in human society in long-term. If we want to speak of social benefits of communism we should better lower down the scale and talk about it between individuals and even in this case it would be far far ago. If we want to talk about communism, it's better to talk about Marx. If we want to talk ab! out capitalism and so called „free market“ we should better come back to history as well, since our system remains more of corporation ridden hybrid capitalism. We are living in era when governments generously support any bigger corporation, prevent it from bankruptcy, assuring free flow of taxpayers' money that in the most extreme cases lead into deepening debt laid on several more future generations. We are far from times when anyone could make up his own business and challenge rivals thinking it would go that smoothly. The questions remain – how will this all end? Where is the fragile boundary between healthy social politics and corruption and unproductive dependency on state funds? Where is a sense of possibilities for creative and responsible business and lobbying killing not only business rivals, but deepening unemployment and having serious consequences on environment? If we look at our so called „political system labels“, we won't be c! ertainly not surprised by Fidel Castro's quote : „commun! ist mode l is not working in Cuba“. Castro and the whole government realized the fundamental change in Cuban society and named it out loud. He says in the time when his brother Raul Castro reports major changes and cutting steps – reduction of state employees, and decreasing some traditional funds. It will be the first change seen in the light abandoning the message of „revolution“. But still, it would be far from any capitalist solutions. How could we talk about capitalist solutions if the most serious damages were caused by international business embargo, ridden by „capitalist“ U.S.?

Už dlhšie nežijeme v ére nejakého konzistentnejšieho politického systému. Komunizmus alebo kapitalizmus, póly, okolo ktorých oscilujú média sa podstatne zmenili. Hoci ešte stále rezonujú pomenovania „komunistický“ vodca a„kapitalistický“ model alebo voľný trh, vo svojej podstate neexistujú. Ovplyvnili ich nové skutočnosti a nová politika, pre ktorú ekonomickí pozorovatelia doteraz nenašli príznačné pomenovanie. Na druhej strane niektorí z najväčších filozofov upozorňujú na! fakt, že žiadna, akokoľvek dobrá myšlienka nie je v ľudskej spoločnosti dlhodobo udržateľná. Ak by sme chceli hovoriť o sociálnych benefitoch komunizmu, museli by sme pravdepodobne rapídne zmenšiť mierku a k tomu sa ešte poriadne vrátiť v čase. Ak by sme chceli hovoriť o pozitívnom komunizme, museli by sme hovorť iba o Marxovi a v rovine teoretickej. Tak isto by sme slobodný trh našli niekedy poriadne dávno. Žijeme v dobe, kedy sa takzvaný kapitalizmus mení na korporatizmus. Korporácie skupujú menšie spoločnosti a mimoriadne úspešne ovplyvňujú politické systémy krajín. A vlády štedro dotujú množstvo väčších spoločností, poskytujú im výhodné pôžičky, niekedy hraničiace s investíciou, krytoy da&! #328;ovými odvodmi obyvateľov a beztrestne zadlž! ;ujú ; celé gerenácie dopredu. Nežijeme v dobe, kedy by si niekto založil podnik a očakával, že mu to bez klientelizmu a korupcie pôjde naozaj ľahko. Naskytá sa otázka – ako to všetko skončí? Kde sa vôbec nachádza tá tenká línia medzi zdravou sociálnou politikou a korupciou a neproduktívnou. lenivou závislosťou väčšiny obyvateľstva na štáte? Kde je zmysel pre vycítenie možností a kreatívneho a pritom zodpovedného podnikania? Kde táto nedeštruktívna politika naráža na tvrdý lobing a bezohľadnú devastáciu nielen obchodnej konkurencie, ale aj primárnych občianskych istôt a životného prostredia? Ak sa na politické systémy pozrieme touto optikou, iste nás neprekvapí nedávny výrok Fidela Castra, ktorý poveda! l, že „komunistický model v našej krajine nefunguje“. Castro, ktorý stále predsedá komunistickej strane si uvedomil podstatné zmeny v kubánskej spoločnosti a nebál sa ich vysloviť nahlas. Jeho výrok taktiež prichádza v čase, kedy jeho brat Raul Castro, súčasný kubánsky prezident pripravuje prvý zásadný šetriaci balíček opatrení – malo by dôjsť k rapídnemu zoštíhleniu verejnej správy, zníženiu počtu štátnych zamestnancov a zrušeniu niektorých tradičných podporných fondov. Podľa ich vlastných slov by sa obyvatelia mali prestať totálne spoliehať na štát. Možno to bude prvá zmena, ktorá opustí odkaz „revolúcie“, avšak v súčasných podmienkach, je azda nevyhnutn&#! 225;. A hoci Castro kriticky zhodnotil stav komunizmu vo svoje! j krajin e, o posune ku kapitalizmu sa nezmienil.

American hiker Sarah Shroud is coming home after 13 months of imprisonment in Iran. Her release is not only a tradition kept during Muslim month of Ramadan, but also an act of good will. Shroud was captured along with two American toursits Josh Fattal, 27 and Shane Bauer, 27 on their way across northern Kurdish region when they managed to cross Iranian borders. So far Iran has accused them for spying, although three hikers claimed the crossing was accidental. But Bak Sahraei, the second counselor of Iran UN mission on behalf of Iran government has reported a decision to release her out and called for reporters to a Tehran Estaghal hotel on Saturday morning to witness the ac! tion. The whole action would be covered by Swiss embassy that is managing U.S. issues in Iran for almost 30 years. Shroud who meanwhile got engaged with Bauer would be the only one released, but their mothers hope that other would soon follow. They were allowed to meet them only once in July 2009. Since then they were in contact. Shroud's mother claimed her daughter had serious health problems and her demands were rejected in the prison.Shroud however, will not be the first released woman, since Iran did the same during the American hostage crisis in 1979-1981 with African-Americans showing respect for women and minorities. The act of a good will has also more layers, affecting international moods that are currently tense. Iran has a negative popularity for death stoning penalties for certain types of female „crimes“. Where is no will, there is no compromise. Belgium is divided across linguistic fault lines, where French spoken are in the south and Dutch in the north. Negotiations between Francophone and the Flemish part of Belgium went awry, what ended up in resignation of socialist francophone leader Elio Di Rupo on Friday. Belgium has been in a political limbo ever since inconclusive June elections and future prognosis are optimistic neither. Francophone politicians started to openly discuss the prospect of dividing the country in two. As senior Socialist leader Laurette Onkelinx warned: “We must start preparing for the end of Belgium.” Frederic Simon, France24’s cor! respondent, who is in the Brussels now, says: “The country has never been that close to splitting up.” In spite of that, King Albert II is moving quickly to get coalition talks back on track. After Di Rupo’s resignation, he did not hesitate and appointed a pair of new negotiators in the hope of finally reaching a consensus to form a government. Sometimes it even seems like the king Albert was the only person who realizes how much this dispute touches on so many sensitive Belgian issues across multiple levels such as wealth distribution, culture or issue of language. But the words of Miss Onkelinx for La Deniere Heure newspaper, tell their own tale: “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that because if we split, it will be the weakest who will pay the heaviest price. Kde nie je vôľa, tam nie je ani kompromis. Belgicko je rozdelené na dve lingvistické časti, kde francúzsky hovoriace obyvateľstvo osídľuje juh krajiny a holandsky hovoriace žije na severe. Posledné vyjednávanie medzi frankofónnou a flámskou časťou Belgicka nevyšli, čo vyústilo do piatkovej rezignácie lídra frankofónnych socialistov Elio Di Rupa. Belgicko je v politickom vákuu už od bezvýsledných júnových volieb a prognózy do budúcnosti nie sú o nič lepšie. Frankofónni politickí lídri preto zač! ;ali otvorene diskutovať aj o možnosti rozdelenia krajiny na dve časti. Ako varovala líderka frankofónnych socialistov Laurette Onkelinx: „Musíme sa začať pripravovať aj na rozpad Belgicka.“ Frederic Simon, korešpondent stanice France24, ktorý sa momentálne nachádza v Bruseli, hovorí: „Krajina nikdy nebola tak blízko k rozpadu.“ Napriek tomu však kráľ Albert II koná rýchlo, aby dostal koaličné rokovania späť na správnu cestu. Po rezignácii Di Rupa, kráľ Albert neváhal ani chvíľku a zvolal dvoch nových sprostredkovateľov v nádeji, že dospejú ku konsenzu o zostavení novej vlády. Niekedy to však vyzerá tak, ako keby bol kráľ Albert jedinou osobou, ktorá si uvedomuje kam až môžu tieto diskusie dospieť a akých citliv! 53;ch záležitostí sa môžu dotknú! ť. V prípade rozdelenia krajiny na dve časti by prišli na pretras také citlivé otázky akými sú delenie spoločného majetku, ale aj otázky kultúry a jazyka. Slová Onkelinxovej pre noviny La Deniere Heure hovoria za všetko: „Dúfajme, že k tomu nedôjde, pretože ak sa rozdelíme, budú to tí najslabší, ktorí za to zaplatia najvyššiu cenu. Na druhej strane, nemôžeme už dlhšie ignorovať, že medzi veľkou časťou Flámskej populácie, je to ich želanie.“

Also workers from hospitals and mail delivery are engaged in massive street protests over plans to raise the retirement age. Workers from London subway are also protesting. They are unhappy with staff cuts, so they walked off the job and the only way you can travel in London are buses now. Crisis hit us all and not very softly, I would say, but steps of most of European governments were not lucky. While in 220 French cities are people pouring into the streets and cal! ling for refusing austerity plans, Prime Minister Francois Fillon reminded the French that it could be worse as nearly all European countries negotiate on raising the retirement age to 67 or 68. But people don’t care. “I am just getting tired of this because this is not the first time.” said Henda Fersi, a passenger at the Part-Dieu train station in Lyon. As it seems, simple math – you live longer, you work longer – is making French protester angry. One sign in Paris showed a raised middle finger with the message: “Greetings from people who will die on the job.” But Labor Minister Eric Woerth said it was the “duty of the state” to save the pension system. But who will save the people is probably unimportant question.

Ak doteraz bojovali s tichom, teplom a tmou takmer istej smrti v hrobke silnej skaly, nepredstaviteľnú radosť z náhleho spojenia so zemou vystriedala nová si! tuácia.Je kritická, pretože prináša náročnú skúšku – ako prečkať v tesných podzemných podmienkach niekoľko mesiacov? If this happens, miners will have to help anyway, since the rock dirt will fall down, but some are afraid it would worsen their health conditions and put them into danger. We speak of at least of ten million tons of rock falling on them.Plan B, as named by certain media would mean widening one of three existing exits. This possibility would take about 60 days. Rescuers would then install a kind of pod and pull miners one by one outside.

Watching movies about mafia and drug dealers is quite far away from reality. Brutality of the real ones is unlike those in the movies…REAL! Tortured and murdered people with hearts or tongues cut out are much scary when you see it in the newspapers rather than in the movies. And the war against these people is a real saint war, which probably will never end up. Monday was a lucky day for Mexico’s federal police and President Felipe Calderon as Edgar Valdez Villarreal, also called as La Barbie, was arrested. This former Texas high school football player worked his way up from petty street dealer to one of major drug lords. Valdez, also after his arrest, probably ! still believes he is untouchable, at least the video where he sometimes looks up and laughs, shows so. Mexican police was chasing Valdez across five Mexican states for a year, what makes Calderon’s efforts for recovering and supporting his war on organized crime recovered, at least so far. However, authorities are not satisfied as there are much more “flies” to catch, including Sinaloa chief Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Mexico’s most-wanted drug lord. Valdez told interrogators that he knew not only Guzman, but also the brothers Arturo and Hector Beltran Leyva and others. Computers, telephones and other equipment confiscated in Valdez’s three-level residence could be helpful with providing more information about his group and other people he was cooperating with. Valdez, as a U.S. citizen living illegally in Mexico, should be deported to the United States if Mexico agrees, or he could face prosecution in Mexico for drug-related crimes.!

She is trying to decrease the punishment with her attorney. According to them, Cassez is not guilty and the decision was "unconstitutional". One of the biggest moments that are to mention as violation of the Mexican constitution from the beginning of the process and the way this woman was arrested. It's been almost five years since Cassez is been arrested. And believe it or not, the operation itself was broadcasted on Mexican TV. I know it sounds crazy and off course it is not moral and legal to do, ! but maybe it is not bad to bring to reason everyone that plans to make a crime. But, according to Cassez, this case has been a fake and the whole police operation was fake, because she had already been arrested on the day when they broadcasted on TV. The woman tried to get some help from French president Nicolas Sarkozy who asked his colleague Felipe Calderon to replace the French citizen in her maternal country, so she could be close to her parents. But, no, this is Mexico and it has different roles. I suppose she should have think about her parents before doing such craps. Now she can cry as much as she want. Florence Cassez belonged to a kidnapping group named "Los Zodiacos". Her boyfriend who is a leader of the group was also arrested but he said that she had nothing to do with the case.

And it is not over yet.Indus, the sacred river has threatened both, Northern and Southern regions and while Northern refugees fight with a disease standing upon the edge of a knife, Southern is getting more rains and the water. Last days 300,000 people decided to leave Thatta city,! fearing the floods. Although the major water flow in 2 kilometer distance from the centre, the army and workers fight frantically with the river. They try repair levee forces and safe another city from floodings. According some resource the main road connecting the city was flooded on Sunday. Officials approved electricity lines were alo cut from the same reason. The city fell into a “war state” - with closing every possible offices, services such shops and schools. People have left. But where?Even if there would be enough of refugee camps, the conditions wouldn't be sufficient. Most of them face diseases, malnutrition, mental decreases affecting especially children and older people. Home minister of Sindh region, Zulfiqar Mirza said people didn't wanted to go these camps, fearing lack of supplies. But what if this human mass carries on moving?How vulnerable it can be? It may take over four months to rescue 33 miners trapped in Chile underground. The miners were trapped on August 5, when the mine collapsed. Miners are staying in an emergency shelter that is placed nearly half a mile below the surface. The rescuers are in contact with them thanks to a 6 inch wide hole that they drilled to the shelter. Now there are also another two holes which allows rescuers to deliver miners food supplies and fresh air. The miners have to wait until the escape tunnel will be drilled. Chilean officials advice miners to do something, exercise and use the time they have. Important is not to get too fat to squeeze through the escape tunnel. The only thing of! ficials do not want to share with the miners is the estimated time it could take to drill them out of the shelter. The officials also asked families to be careful in the letters they write. The miners need a lot of attention, care and psychological support. The miners know it will take time to rescue them but they do not know the details about the estimate. However, some experts think it may take far less than four months to dig them out. Some even say the tunnel may be done in 25 to 30 days. Lilianett Gomez, whose father is in the mine, thinks that the miners themselves knew the best it would not be quick. As miners they knew the work very well, she added. Chilean President Sebastian Pinera called with the shift leader of the trapped miners and asked him what they needed. The leader Luis Urzua responded: "That you rescue us as quickly as possible, and that you don't abandon us.”

Let's get one thing straight - no one really wants Roma people in their countries. They are maybe the only folks in the world that are so numerous but with no country to call their own. They are the citizens of the world. But, unfortunately, the word citizen is weight too decent for them, I am sure that they do not feel like ones. Romania is maybe the country with the most Roma people that live in, but for sure, Macedonia's capital Skopje has the biggest Roma community in the world - Shutka! People there have education, live properly and they are pretty emancipated in the society. No one can convince me that some well developed country honestly want Roma people among them! . Everybody is trying to avoid the fact that they really do exist. The newest example is the the French people's. France wants to expel Romans that have origin from Romania, to return to their country. A lot of people refuse to enter the air planes and return to whatever calls home. And, more of that, France's officials say that they will "help" Romanian colleagues to handle the problem. With 300 euros France tried to motivate Roma people to leave the country. Now, France is going to teach Romania how to integrate Roma. It is easy to give advises when the luggage is removed from your shoulders. You are a hero if you handle the problem yourself. Everybody only transfers the problem from one to another. “The authorities in Paris consider the Roma to be Romania’s problem. In Bucharest, it is considered a European problem. It is not easy to reconcile these two visions” - says France 24. The number of the Romas that live in France are about 15.000 to 20.000.!

Only few hours before that incident, another gunfire happened where unfortunately, those two French boys weren’t as like to pass only with injuries, but they lost their lives. So, why is it so important how did it happen? I always wonder why do we always search for the one who is guilty. This incident happened in a operation south of Tagab. The number of the French soldiers that have so far lost their lives in the Afghanistan war is 47. French troops are in Afghanistan since 2001. About 3.500 French s! oldiers are situated in Afghanistan in the region near Kabul. They are on the NATO site and mission to fight the Talibans. French police is investigation what was the reason or the shooting. “There is no doubting the fact that the shots came from insurgents" – says Colonel Thierry Burkhard, spokesman for the headquarters of the French armed forces. French Prime Minister doesn’t give up to participate in the International Security Assistance Force, though in the beginning of the year, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner’s statement surprised the international public with the statement that his country is not going to send any more troops in Afghanistan. The deaths bring to 47 the number of French troops who have died in Afghanistan since 2001. I still wonder, how many people should die for the war to be successful?

Almost half of the people that travelled with Chinese ERJ-190 jet have died in a plane crush! At least 42 people are dead and 54 are injured in one of the biggest air disasters in China. The black box is found and it is checked out attentively. The reasons for the catastrophe are still not clear. It happened near the airport in the northeast city of Yichun. The captain of the plane stayed alive, but he could not talk because his face was hurt. The Civil Aviation Authority of China admits that the plane's technical problems were nothing new. Some of the survived ones say that the plane jolted about six times very strongly. Most of the i! njured have suffered broken bones the most. How grieving is the image when you see members of the families waiting in front of the airport to identify the victims and praying that their close persons are not among the death ones. The plane was created in Brazil, from the "Embraer" company that sent condolences to the victims' families. That is OK, a moral thing to, but who wants to listen to someone saying how bad he feels when the one you love is already gone. As some media say, one of the factors that influenced the accident, was the bad visibility, that was less than 300 meters due to the heavy fog. Another problem broken turbine plates and flight control with system errors. At the end, why does it matter who's to be blamed when it has already happened. OK, someone should be responsible, but still those 42 people are not coming back.

Every time some floods or landslides cause death of people or other problems I have to think when will it come here? When torrential rains will hit also my city and change it into oblivion? I am afraid what will happen next. But today it is Pakistan facing my fears as it battles rising flood waters. As United Nations informed, there are some 800,000 people cut off by surging flood waters and are in desperate need of aid. Torrent of monsoon rains washed away bridges and vital access roads, so there is no other way to get to these people than by air. That is the reason, why United Nations launched an urgent appeal yesterday for more helicopters. According to the United Nation! s, this is Pakistan’s worst humanitarian catastrophe. It has affected more than 17 million people, five million people are still homeless and around 1,500 of them have been confirmed dead. As John Holmes, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator said: “this requires an extraordinary effort by the international community.” Except money that are needed, Pakistani officials are warning of country’s fertile southern plains that can in a very short time face the risk of more flooding as the major river threatens to burst its banks. “We are working on a war footing. This is an extraordinary flood and we are at war with the extraordinary floods.” said Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Sindh province’s irrigation minister. The police took over the radioactive substance from a garage in the capital Chisinau. Certain tests have been done in the United States that proved that we are talking about the type Uranium-238. According to experts it is valued at 9 million euros. This crime hasn't been the first one to the suspected. They have already been in charge for possessing radioactive materials in Moldova, Russia and Romania. The police still doesn't know the country where does the uranium comes from. For the records, this type of uranium is the most common a! mong the three isotopes of the uranium. From Uranium-238 a plutonium can be made, which is a a powerful material for nuclear weapon. Not only the three people were involved in the crime, the police is after few more to close the investigation. "Seven members of the criminal group came under suspicion of police in the middle of June when they started to look for ways of selling the radioactive material," - the Interior Ministry said. People in Hong Kong are devastated after eight of their compatriots were killed in a bus travelling in Philippine's capital Manila. A former police officer held under hostage a bus of tourists from Hong Kong and disappointed after the negotiations with the Philippine's police, decided to shoot. The world is accusing the strategy of the police in the country that hadn't been able to safe people's lives. In terms of precaution, the Hong Kong officials ask the people that planned to travel in Philippine to stay at home. A minute's silence as a sign of mourning happened at the stock exchange in Hong Kong. And flags are at half-mast, which as well is a sign of respect for the v! ictims. The bus siege lasted almost a day. The hostages that stayed alive blame the local police for not being effective on saving their close people's lives. There were terrifying examples, like the one of a woman that lost her husband and two daughters and her son is in intensive care in hospital. "The Philippine government... I can't accept this. Why did they do this to us? The gunman did not want to kill us. He only shot us after the negotiations failed" - the lady told Hong Kong officials. For the irony to be bigger, no one really knows what did the man that held the hostages wanted from the police, but one thing is for sure, they didn't make it to come to a common language. The gunman was killed, and seven of the hostages are transfered home. Philippine is one of the most visited touristic country in the South Asia.

Few heads have fallen on the case of the Van Gogh stolen picture from the Egypt’s Mahmoud Khalil museum. The head of the culture ministry’s fine arts section, three museum guards and one more official, due to their negligence on the case and the bad security at the museum where the master piece was stolen at day time. The painting known as “Poppy Flowers” is missing since Saturday. Interpol is participating in the investigation. No one knows whether it was on purpose or not, but people that were in charge to take care of the surveillance of the museum, though they had the money to do so, they didn’t fixed the camera system. And museum with su! ch a valuable collection hadn’t had the security system fixed in four years! It is estimated that the museum’s collection is worth hundreds of millions of dollars! This is not the first time for this canvas to be stolen. It also happened in 1977, but it was found few months later. The painting, one of the 30 floral works of the Dutch post-Impressionist master, is estimated at about 50 million dollars. As experts say, exactly this painting shows the beginning of the more colorful period in Van Gogh’s creative work. The whole case is very strange – the picture’s been stolen at daytime, it was cut from its frame. I still wonder, why didn’t the thieves take Paul Gaughin’s painting, too, that was right next to his Dutch friend. Few Spaniards that were so eager to see Van Gogh’s piece, were the first to discover that the flowers on the canvas were actually gone.

China: 43 found dead after a plane crash by Milota Sidorova

Yesterday, China saw the first major airplane disaster in past six years. The nightflight heading from Harbin for Heilongjiang province city of Yichun crashed on grassy area about an hour after taking off. There were 42 dead people and 54 injured ones. This is again raising big concern about safety in Chinese airline companies that were ranked low past years. In fact airtraffic boom was drastically suppressed by Chinese government and huge investitions into high-speed trains all over the country. But some of them kept flying, including Henan Airlines that owned Brazilian-made Embraer E-190 jet crashin down late Tuesday.According surivors the plane crashed down after a seri! es of four or five strong turbulences coming shortly after the announcement for landing. Emergency exits broke down and many died in flames and toxic gas released after the crash. Despite of direct testimonies, the plane's two black boxes will be examined to find out exact reasons of the accident. So far there have been no signs of a previous fire during the flight or any kind of sabotage, as reported by state television. Victims were among 12 up to 55 years old including 4 children and state Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security officials. Vice Minister Sun Baoshu was among survivors but in the critical conditions. Bodies were found in diameter of 30 meters from the wreck.Henan Airlines cancelled all flights on Wednesday including regional flights. China Southern Airlines for instance dropped all night flights to the newly built airport in Yichun located in a forested valley.
