Whose fault is “silent tsunami”?!
by Lenka Lehenova

Today, our world is at the top of innovating. Technology is improving every day, people's wishes and dreams are satisfied and thanks to it we can feel more and more comfortable. It seems that everything is alright but in fact our world has to fight with many problems and as well as number of our wishes is satisfied, the number of troubles is increasing. Global warming, violence, weapons, poverty... they are only a couple of world's threats which could be a reason of the end of human being.Defect of food which might cause the first global food crisis since World War II, is one of the biggest problem. Africa is a place where poverty and hunger are killing inhabitants and specially children every minute. There is not just only Africa but nowadays, there are a lot of countries where people suffer from hunger and this strange situation is a global problem. It could mean the end of supermarkets full of food and cheap prices. If we don't find some solutions, famine might come also into your country, to your city and just your family might suffer from it. On Tuesday at a London summit on the crisis, the World Food Program's executive director, Josette Sheeran said that it is like a “silent tsunami” of hunger which is sweeping the world's most desperate nations. The fact is that there are plenty of factors which influence and depend on each other. Defect of food has caused that food prices are soaring. The reasons are for example skyrocketing cost of food, rising fuel prices or unpredictable weather and there are much more of them. Just imagine that the price of rice has been more than doubled in the last five weeks or if you order some meal in the restaurant, you will get shrinking helping which is cost twice as much. Although our world is chock-full of the best technology or innovations, “silent tsunami” of hunger is getting closer and closer. This period could be the worst one of our life. We have to reduce the number of meals we take a day and we have to pay more for food. And healthy food? Oh, what is it? Yes, step by step it is disappearing and if you find some product “bio”, the price is pretty high. Maybe we should realize, whose fault it is...people's?!
