Chris Cantell Discusses World News: Plane veers off runway in Congo
Another terrible accident of plane has happened few days ago. On Tuesday, April 15 a plane called Congolese jetliner caused a big casualty, when it suddenly was not able to get off the ground and crashed into busy neighborhood. As many sources and eye witnesses allege, the plane simply veered off the runway, kept on going in its direction, crashed into the near settled area and finally burst into flames. Rescues began immediately. Many peacemakers and also members of a crew began without delay to find and rescue people, who were locked up inside the burning plane. Witnesses, who were on the scene said, that the biggest amount of killed or only injured people was not of those, who was on the board of the crashed plane, but surprisingly of those, who were during the accident on the ground, and the plane had simply smashed into their houses or buildings, in which they were in that tragic moment. Julien Mpaluku, the regional Governor mentioned, that the overall amount of injured people is 75, but it is hard to say right now, whether they had been the passengers on the DC-9 jetliner or they had been just on the ground. He also said, that this figures is not definitive, because the rescues still continues in spite of the flames and a dense smoke. Dirk Cramers, a representatives of Hewa Bora, which is an airline possessing this crashed plane said, that according to received information, at least 53 passengers and seven members of the crew were taken to hospitals. Because of the civil war, which was from 1998 to 2002, Congo has experienced the more tragic crashes than any other African country.
