Security pact approved
by kristina leskova
Iraq government agreed the deal which enables American soldiers to stay in the country for three other years. This deal should definitely approve the parliament. Ali Al-Dabbagh as government spokesman confirmed the acceptance of the deal. The UN mandate will expire on December 31 and after this date US troops should draw back. But this agreement enables them to stay in Iraq until 2012. The United States submit to Baghdad the concept of deal and they signed it as final text. At first Iraq did not want to accept the deal. There were some problematic points. If they would not achieve an agreement Baghdad wanted to prolong the UN mandate. Without agreement or new mandate USA would have to cancel all operations in Iraq. Now we have to wait until November 24, until the Iraq government will vote about the agreement. White House thinks that Iraq did a great progress when they decided to accept American soldiers in Iraq. But Obama promised in his campaign that US troops will stay in Iraq only until May 2010. Can he keep the promise? The neighbors of Iraq – Iran and Syria were not satisfied; they both think that the best solution would be the immediate withdrawal of US troops. But there will always be somebody who is not satisfied with the situation. Only few hours after the voting seven people died and seven other were wounded in a suicide car bombing near police station which is situated northeast of Baghdad. Americans will tighten the control over Iraq. I just hope that it will help Iraq and decrease the number of dying people.
