Haiti Miracle!
by Barbora Misakova

When the rest of the world heard about earthquake which hit Haiti, rescue operations were already in full swing there. Major earthquake struck southern Haiti on January 10, 2010, knocked down buildings and power lines. The magnitude 7.0 made from this quake the most powerful one in a century. This catastrophe of major proportions has taken heavy casualties. Haiti prime minister said the death toll could climb above 100,000! Bodies of dead people can be seen everywhere and pictures from Haiti resembles Hell. But the rescuers are not giving it up. People are still looking for their relatives and friends. It is said “Never say die.” One proof that miracles can real! ly happen is a 28-year-old Evans Monsigrace, who had been buried in rubble for 27 days! Twenty seven days with no food or water put its signature on the appearance of the man. He was confused, very emaciated and looked quite dehydrated but fortunately his internal organs were not damaged, doctor said. According to Monsigrace the quake buried him while he was cooking rice. Even though it was not immediately possible to verify his claim, everyone is too surprised and too happy to actually think about it. The fact he stayed alive is something unbelievable as man usually cannot survive more than 10 days without water. It is hard to say if it was the strength of his mind or belief that his family is looking for him, which made him to hold on. The truth is, it was miracle! And the miracles are what these people need the most.
