US consulate staff killed in Mexico by Magdalena Rosova

Two Americans and a Mexican from US consulate were killed in Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, which is a drug war-plagued city. American President Barack Obama has expressed outrage over the murder and the State Department allowed families of other consulate staff to leave. The victims are American women who worked at the consulate and her husband. They were shot by drug gang hitman on Saturday as they left consulate social event. A Mexican man married to another consulate employee was shot about the same time but in the different part of the city. His wife was at the same event as the killed coupe. The motive for the attacks is unknown and it is not clear whether the vict! ims were specifically targeted or no. In past months the drug war in Mexico worsened as the head of the Juarez cartel, Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, fights with the another Mexico's drug lord Joaquin “Shorty” Gruzman. The collision caused explosion of bloodshed. Obama's spokesman Mike Hammer said president was saddened and outraged by the events in Mexico and added that Obama “shares in the outrage of the Mexican people at the murders of thousands in Ciudad Juarez and elsewhere in Mexico.” The U.S. State Department warns people not to travel to Mexico and it also authorized the departure of U.S. workers in consulates in Ciudad Juarez and in other cities close to the American border. Current Mexican President Felipe Calderon came to power in 2006 and launched a huge millitary assault on the drug cartels in the country. Since 2006 nearly 19,000 people were killed. Calderon's violence alarmed Washington, foreign investors and tourists.
