Changing time in Slovakia
by Zivka Deleva

This is definitely an election time for Europe. The United Kingdom has made its choice, the same happened to Netherlands, Belgium and now Slovakia as well. Two days ago, Slovakians have voted on the parliamentary elections on which the actual leftist party won people’s trust. Now, the Prime Minister Robert Fico is about to form a new government. Even the President Ivan Gasparovic advised his college to make the new government. About 34.8 percent of the people with the right to vote gave their trust for the Social Democrats party. This party’s main motto was the generous social spending. Total of 2401 candidates wanted to take a place in the parliament, but the ! Central Election Commission had its way to reduce the number. Eighteen parties participated on the elections, but one third of them succeeded to take a seat in the parliament. It is very normal why the president want a new government to be formed as soon as possible. That means that the country will go on, that it won’t make big laps and the social life and work will go on. "There are different political possibilities but I want to ask the election winner to form the government. I believe that a party that won such support from the people deserves the chance," Gasparovic said. He hopes that this process will be finished soon and that the winner is going to find the best friends to play with. One thing is for sure. This is a very important period in a lot of European countries on the political view. Almost in every country where there have been elections, the leading party has been changed. This is definitely a changing time for Europe.
