Obama hosts nuclear security summit by Magdalena Rosova

World leaders agreed with President Barack Obama's call for securing all nuclear materials all over the world so that terrorist could not get to them. The nuclear materials should be collected withing four years. Leaders of 47 nations met on summit which was focused on the threat of nuclear terrorism. It was the biggest gathering of world leaders in United States ever since conference hold in San Francisco in 1945. President Obama said that if the plan succeeded the American people would be safer and the world more secure. The threat of nuclear weapon is really serious, plutonium the size of an apple could detonate a device which could kill thousands of people. At the! opening session at the Washington Convention Center Obama said that if terrorist had had nuclear weapon they would not hesitate and use it. If terrorist used nuclear weapon, it would be a catastrophe for the whole world and it would disrupt global peace and stability. Countries present at the summit declared that they would more cooperate with the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency. Further they promised to share information on nuclear detection and possible ways how to prevent nuclear trafficking. Countries such as Ukraine, Mexico and Canada promised to stop their enriching of uranium so that it would be more difficult for terrorist to steal an important ingredient for making atomic weapon. Considerable attention was given to Iran and North Korea as there is assumption that these nations succeeded in developing nuclear weapons. However, Iran and North Korea were not invited to the summit.
