Mexico is a beautiful country with a rich history, culture and ancestors like the Maya and the Aztec worthy of admiration. Yet, the violent crimes and the drug-traffic and narco-related activities distract attention from the country’s beatitude and turn it into a real battlefield that should be avoided. In spite of the numerous attempts from the government to keep the situation under control and eradicate the drug traffic, the violence continues to escalate. On Monday 10 policemen were killed in the Western state of Michoacan following an attack on a federal police convoy. Even in prison they manage! d to stir conflicts: 28 prisoners were killed, while three prison guards were injured in a gun battle between rival gangs. Cartels also registered losses as 14 members were killed in Taxco in a confrontation with the police. The ambushes and the attacks have increased in frequency right after Familia Michoacana planned attacks over two days on police stations and patrols in eight cities. Just in 2010, the toll was 324 police officers and soldiers. USA is paying a lot of money to put an end to the drug traffic in Mexico which puts great pressure on the President Felipe Calderon and his government. Mexican residents are resenting their President due to the fact that they see him as a failure, a leader incapable to stop the violence. However, the drug cartels are getting better and more aggressive in ambushing policemen who are outnumbered and not properly trained. The main ally, USA, is providing the drug cartels with the weapons and munitions used to! cause the violence. As it is, how could Mexico be cleaned?
