Proud Russians are thankful for U.S aid against wildfires by Zivka Deleva

The great rivals seem to be friends again. When one is in trouble, it shouldn’t be a macho and accept each hand possible, no matter if it comes from someone you really don’t like. The Russians are in big trouble. Their capital is diving into smog and wildfires, people are terrified for their lives and each help is as welcomed. And guess who has flown two days ago? I know that you have answered on the first try – off course, the Americans! I know I am a little bit sarcastic and maybe I shouldn’t be in such a situation, but I just can’t help myself once again how hypocritical is the politics – if they hated each other yesterday and sent spi! es into one another’s administrations, today they give a water tanks and fire-protective clothing. The U.S help that was signed by President Barrack Obama is only the first part of the whole aid package worth 4.5 million dollars. The fact is that these days Russia is living with the worst wildfires that its history remembers. Russians off course, are graceful to the aid. "We will always remember this gesture, this arm that was extended to us at a very difficult time" - the deputy head of the international department of the Russian emergencies ministry, Valery Shuikov, said at the Vnukovo airport. The fire is near a top nuclear facility, but by far, the Russian officials calm down people that there is no possibility for bigger accident to happen. This is not the first sort of help that came from Americans. A week ago, a team of specialists from the Government visited Moscow and offered their help in handling the wildfires.
